Associate Payload Systems Design EngineerCompany:The Boeing CompanyBoeing Global Services (BGS) Post-Production Modifications Support, is seeking a Structural & Payload Design Engineer (Payload Systems Design, Associate Level) to support modification projects for Product Lines: Interiors, Connectivity/VIP, Avionics, Airplane Performance and Systems (AP&S), and some BCF (Boeing Converted Freighter) in Long Beach, California. The successful candidate will support all models, from McDonnell Douglas (MD) heritage series airplanes, to the latest Boeing 777X aircraft. This candidate will apply advanced knowledge of Boeing design and/or engineering principles to develop interim or final engineering solutions to product/process issues throughout production and/or for technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer. The candidate will analyze, conduct failure analysis, troubleshoot to understand root cause, and provide assistance to identify solutions. The candidate will provide written documentation and dispositions for IDRs (Installation Deviation Record) in support of customer on-site modifications. The candidate will ensure supplier and build partner comply with Boeing standards, and represent the engineering community through post production modification environment.Position Responsibilities:Provide Home support as Liaison or Design Engineer functions for ongoing modifications for all BGS Mods Product Lines: Interiors, Connectivity/VIP, Avionics/AP&S, and BCF (Boeing Converted Freighter)Provide on-site modification support as Liaison or Design Engineer functions (when BCA or BGS core support is unavailable)Write, coordinate, and disposition IDRs (Installation Deviation Record) for Airplane ModificationsReview and respond to Service Requests (SR) from Airline Customers in the Modifications Support queue of Boeing Communication System (BCS)Applies knowledge of Boeing design principles to assess and resolve product/process issues through the product lifecycleApplies engineering principles to research technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the Customer and designs interim and final engineering solutionsIdentifies, documents, and analyzes reported problems and communicates deviations that could impact design intent and safety; recommends and manages resolutionAnalyze and conduct root cause analysis while developing dispositions for design nonconformancesDevelops and implements product/process improvementsSupports Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and participates in design reviewsClose coordination and teaming with other internal and external Engineering teamsRepresents the engineering community in the build through post-production environmentBasic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experiencePreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Multidisciplinary engineering backgroundExperience in Model Based Definition, CATIA, ENOVIA and PDMAbility to lead, work independently and in a team environmentExperience providing product definitions and technical support to groups, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycleKnowledge of the aircraft certification process Conflict of Interest:Successful candidates for this job must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process. Drug Free Workplace:Boeing is a Drug Free Workplace where post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when criteria is met as outlined in our policies. Pay & Benefits:At Boeing, we strive to deliver a Total Rewards package that will attract, engage and retain the top talent.  Elements of the Total Rewards package include competitive base pay and variable compensation opportunities.  The Boeing Company also provides eligible employees with an opportunity to enroll in a variety of benefit programs, generally including health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and a number of programs that provide for both paid and unpaid time away from work.  The specific programs and options available to any given employee may vary depending on eligibility factors such as geographic location, date of hire, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  Summary pay range: $90,950 - $123,050Language Requirements:Not ApplicableEducation:Bachelor's Degree or EquivalentRelocation:Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position.Export Control Requirement:This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements.
