This role will require 25% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.                  The Structural Heart business at Medtronic is dedicated to advancing innovative therapies that address complex structural heart disease through minimally invasive technologies. The Principal Financial Analyst supporting Structural Heart Clinical Research plays a critical role in enabling the development and clinical validation of next-generation therapies for structural heart disease.This role serves as a strategic finance partner to the Vice President of Structural Heart Clinical Research & Medical Science and Senior Director of Mitral & Tricuspid Therapy Development. As a senior individual contributor, the Principal Financial Analyst provides financial leadership across a broad portfolio of pre-market and post-market clinical studies, ensuring strong financial planning, forecasting, and transparency to support key development and regulatory milestones.This position is an on-site role based in Mounds View, Minnesota and partners closely with clinical, medical science, therapy development, and finance leadership. The role operates with a high degree of independence and is expected to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority while supporting critical investment and portfolio decisions across the Structural Heart organization.Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.Serve as the primary finance partner to the Vice President of Structural Heart Clinical Research & Medical Science, supporting financial planning, forecasting, and reporting for the global clinical research organization.Lead financial planning and reporting for the Structural Heart clinical study portfolio, including both pre-market and post-market studies.Maintain and enhance financial models supporting clinical studies, ensuring alignment between study design, enrollment assumptions, timelines, and financial projections.Partner with clinical operations teams to monitor study enrollment, site activation, and training activities to ensure accurate forecasting of clinical study spending.Provide financial leadership for external research and investigator-sponsored research programs, including planning, forecasting, and financial tracking.Partner with the Mitral and Tricuspid Therapy Development leader to provide financial reporting and forecasting as well as support allocation of clinical budgets across development programs based on study design, enrollment expectations, and program priorities.Deliver consolidated reporting, key metrics, and financial insights to support leadership decision making across the clinical research portfolio.Drive financial rigor and transparency across clinical research investments, supporting governance reviews and long-range planning.Identify opportunities to improve forecasting accuracy, financial processes, and reporting tools supporting the clinical research organization.Must Have: Minimum RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related fieldMinimum of 7 years of relevant finance or accounting experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experienceNice to HaveExperience supporting clinical research, R&D, or product development organizationsExperience working with clinical study financial models or large program budgetsExperience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders including clinical, medical, R&D, and operations teamsStrong financial modeling, forecasting, and long-range planning experienceDemonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and operate effectively within a highly matrixed organizationStrong executive communication and presentation skillsExperience working in the medical device, healthcare, or regulated industryMBA, CPA, or other relevant advanced certificationFor Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.Physical Job RequirementsThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this position, but they are not an exhaustive list of all the required responsibilities and skills of this position. The physical demands described within the Responsibilities section of this job description are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
