You will work on all levels of support tickets (L1 to L3), ensuring timely resolution and operational excellence. This role requires strong hands-on experience in VMware, Windows Server, and Linux environments, along with good understanding of storage, backup, and automation practices. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders to maintain a reliable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure.Position:Lead System AdministratorESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESHandle support tickets from L1 through L3, including incident resolution, request fulfillment, problem management, and change execution.Administer and maintain VMware vSphere, ESXi hosts, and virtual machines.Manage and support Windows and Linux server environments (AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO, RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu).Perform OS patching, upgrades, and performance tuning for Windows and Linux servers.Monitor system health, capacity, and performance, and proactively address potential issues.Perform backup and restore operations using enterprise backup tools (e.g., IDPA,Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik).Collaborate with network, storage, and security teams to ensure smooth infrastructure operations.Ensure system compliance with security standards, policies, and audit requirements.Maintain documentation, SOPs, and operational runbooks for supported systems.Participate in automation and process improvement initiatives using PowerShell or Bash scripting.Plan and execute changes following ITIL change management processes.Support business continuity and disaster recovery testing as required.Provide on-call support and participate in planned maintenance activities.SUPERVISION RECEIVEDWorks under moderate supervision, with direction from the Manager – Systems Administration.Expected to exercise independent judgment in prioritizing, planning, and executing assigned tasks.Escalates issues to management only when policy, budget, or critical business impact decisions are required.SUPERVISION GIVENProvides guidance and assistance to L1 and L2 engineers as required.Supports knowledge sharing within the team through documentation and peer learning.Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams (network, storage, security, cloud and Application).JOB COMPLEXITYWorks on complex infrastructure issues across virtualization and server environments, requiring deep technical expertise.Balances hands-on technical execution with process adherence and continuous improvement.Exercises independent judgment in evaluating multiple options and implementing solutions that align with business needs.Coordinates with vendors, service providers, and internal teams to ensure timely resolution of technical issues.Anticipates risks and recommends strategies to prevent incidents and improve system reliability.QUALIFICATIONSStrong technical expertise in VMware vSphere 6/7/8, including vCenter, ESXi, vMotion, and resource management.Proficiency in Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 administration (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO, clustering).Proficiency in Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu) server management, patching, and troubleshooting.Familiarity with backup solutions (Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik, or equivalent).Experience with PowerShell and Bash scripting for automation.Knowledge of security hardening, audit compliance, and vulnerability management.Understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, and Change Management).Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and documentation skills.Strong communication and collaboration abilities.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with 3 + year’s experience in enterprise VMware and server administration.Equivalent Diploma with 8+ years of related experience may also be considered.CERTIFICATIONS (Preferred)VMware Certified Professional (VCP).Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administrator (MCSA/MCSE).Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA/RHCE).ITIL Foundation Certification.About Collins AerospaceJoining Collins Aerospace isn’t just about finding a job; it’s about embarking on a journey to redefine the future of aerospace technology.Collins Aerospace, a Raytheon Technologies company, is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry.
