You own the translation layer between business stakeholders and the technical team — ensuring that business problems are decomposed into well-structured, prioritized work that engineers, data scientists, and data product engineers can execute against.Beyond writing stories, you shape how the team takes in work. You define and improve the intake process, manage competing priorities across multiple stakeholders, and ensure the team is always working on the highest-value problems. You also mentor junior analysts and serve as the primary point of contact for senior business stakeholders who need to understand what the lab can deliver and when.Key Responsibilities:Lead Requirements & IntakeOwn the lab's requirements intake process — define how work comes in, how it gets scoped, and how it gets prioritized.Lead requirements sessions with senior stakeholders — translate complex, ambiguous business problems into structured project scopes and user stories.Decompose large initiatives into phased delivery plans that align with the team's prototyping cadence.Challenge requests constructively — push back when requirements are unclear, propose alternatives, and ensure the team builds the right thing, not just the requested thing.Backlog Ownership & PrioritizationOwn and manage the team's product backlog across multiple workstreams and stakeholders.Make prioritization decisions in collaboration with lab leadership — balance urgency, impact, and feasibility.Ensure the backlog is always sprint-ready — stories groomed, estimated, dependencies identified, acceptance criteria defined.Drive backlog refinement sessions and sprint planning with the technical team.Technical Translation & FeasibilityTranslate business needs into technical requirements that reference specific systems, data sources, APIs, and integration points.Engage with engineers and data teams early to validate feasibility and refine scope before committing work to a sprint.Understand the team's technical architecture well enough to identify risks, dependencies, and reuse opportunities across projects.Bridge the gap between business stakeholders who think in processes and outcomes, and engineers who think in systems and data.Stakeholder ManagementServe as the primary liaison between the Digital Lab and senior GPS stakeholders — manage expectations, communicate progress, and negotiate scope.Facilitate demos, feedback sessions, and retrospectives with business sponsors.Handle competing priorities from multiple stakeholder groups — make trade-off recommendations to lab leadership with clear rationale.Build trusted relationships so that stakeholders see the lab as a reliable partner, not just a request queue.Process Improvement & MentorshipContinuously improve the team's requirements and intake processes — make them leaner, faster, and more effective.Mentor and guide junior Systems Analysts on story writing, requirements gathering, and stakeholder management.Establish templates, standards, and best practices for how the team documents requirements and tracks work.Qualifications / EducationBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field.Experience & Skills Required5–8 years of experience as a Systems Analyst / Business AnalystProven ability to lead requirements sessions with senior stakeholders and decompose complex problems into actionable work.Strong command of Agile methodologies — Scrum or Kanban — with experience owning or co-owning a product backlog.Proficiency with work management tools — JIRA, Azure DevOps, or similar.Strong understanding of technical systems at a functional level — APIs, databases, data pipelines, web applications, AI/ML workflows — enough to write stories that engineers respect and can act on.Excellent communication and facilitation skills — you can lead a room, manage a difficult conversation, and write with precision.Strong prioritization and judgment — you know how to say "not now" as well as "yes."Experience managing work intake across multiple concurrent projects and stakeholder groups.Preferred / Nice-to-HaveExperience in pharma, life sciences, or manufacturing environments.Familiarity with data and AI/ML concepts — understanding model inputs/outputs, data pipelines, and what makes AI solutions feasible.Experience working in innovation labs, prototyping teams, or startup-like environments where speed and ambiguity are the norm.Familiarity with GPS/PDS domain systems — SAP, MES, LIMS, planning tools.Product Owner certification (CSPO) or equivalent Agile certification.Experience with Confluence or similar documentation platforms. If you come across a role that intrigues you but doesn’t perfectly line up with your resume, we encourage you to apply anyway.
