Work ScheduleStandard (Mon-Fri)Environmental ConditionsOfficeJob DescriptionThe PCBA Centre of Excellence is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to help build a resilient, cost-effective electronics supply chain. In this role, you will support AIG businesses by applying practical PCBA expertise across R&D, Operations, and Sourcing functions. You will play a key role in advancing company cost-out objectives through productivity improvements, supply chain risk assessments, design change facilitation, and implementation of PPI processes. Working cross-functionally across multiple businesses and divisions, you will develop and own a technical project portfolio and lead initiatives that deliver measurable business value.Locations:  Brno, Czech Republic, and up to 30% travel between Thermo Fisher Scientific sites and suppliers in Germany, Netherlands and Czech Republic.What you will do:Lead technical initiatives across electro-mechanical components and assemblies, including motors, cables, power management systems, controls, and OEM assemblies within the CMD division.Facilitate Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE) workshops in partnership with procurement and engineering leaders.Support EMS Category Management with technical RFQ analysis and VAVE initiatives, including PCBA redesign, platform consolidation, and supplier manufacturing and test optimization.Develop and manage a multi-year pipeline of technical projects aimed at improving competitiveness, cost efficiency, and supply chain robustness.Partner closely with the India Engineering Center to accelerate ideation and execution of improvement initiatives.Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, and Engineering teams to ensure effective implementation and sustained results.Requirements:5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering within a Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial or related field.Demonstrated ability to operate effectively within a cross-functional, matrixed organizationStrong analytical, communication, and negotiation skillsExperience developing business cases including solution options, financial justification, NPV, and ROI analysisExperience with spend analysis, RFQs, and structured problem-solvingPractical application of Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologiesProficiency in MS Excel, Word, and standard business toolsPreferred QualificationsExperience in PCBA manufacturing or PCBA designBackground in electrical component engineering, electromechanical design, power management, or electrical systems and controlsStrong Design for Excellence (DfX) knowledge related to PCBA layoutsExperience working within or closely with procurement organizationsSix Sigma Green Belt certificationExperience with Tier 1 and Tier 2 EMS supplierseCAD layout and component management experience using industry-standard toolsKnowledge of phase-gate development processesExperience managing engineering changes through PLM workflow systemsAs part of the Thermo Fisher Scientific team, you’ll discover meaningful work that makes a positive impact on a global scale.
