We provide our employees with the resources and support needed to achieve individual career goals while helping to solve some of the world’s toughest challenges — from protecting the environment and ensuring food safety to advancing life-saving therapies and cancer research.Position SummaryThe Manufacturing Maintenance Technician II is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving manufacturing and utility equipment to maximize operational uptime and reliability in GMP manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with Manufacturing Operations to provide responsive technical support, reduce downtime, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and experienced in preventive maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and industrial systems. This individual will also be required to obtain a Massachusetts Wastewater Grade 2 License within the first year of employment.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform all work in compliance with Thermo Fisher Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) standards, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and compliance.Execute preventive maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs with limited supervision.Diagnose and resolve medium-complexity equipment and process issues to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.Maintain and repair manufacturing and utility equipment including:PumpsAgitatorsPressure vesselsMechanical sealsValvesElectric motorsHydraulic systemsRepair or replace instrumentation and control devices such as:SwitchesPressure gaugesTemperature probesProximity sensorsPush-buttonsControl valvesSupport manufacturing operations by responding to equipment issues and providing effective technical solutions.Assist with coordinating work performed by external contractors and service providers.Utilize Practical Process Improvement (PPI) methodologies to support continuous improvement initiatives.Develop and update preventive maintenance procedures, standard work instructions, and training documentation.Identify and implement small-scale reliability and process improvement projects.Accurately document maintenance activities, work orders, and inventory usage in the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).Communicate low inventory levels and equipment concerns proactively to supervisors and support teams.Minimum QualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma or GED requiredAssociate degree or vocational/technical certification preferredExperienceMinimum 1 year of maintenance experience in a manufacturing, production, or process environment is required.Minimum 2-3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing, production, or process environment is preferred.Experience performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, inspections, and equipment adjustments.Preferred Skills & QualificationsAbility to read and interpret equipment specifications, technical manuals, and process diagramsFamiliarity with utility and process systems including:Wastewater systemsCDA (Clean Dry Air)Nitrogen (N2)RODI systemsExperience with process control systems; Emerson DeltaV experience preferredWorking knowledge of CMMS platformsProficiency in Microsoft Office applicationsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentPhysical & Working ConditionsAbility to climb ladders and work at elevated heightsAbility to regularly lift and move up to 50 poundsComfortable working in a fast-paced production and manufacturing environmentAbility to work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, including every other weekendWhy Join Thermo Fisher Scientific?Meaningful work with global impactCompetitive pay and benefitsCareer growth and development opportunitiesCollaborative and innovative work environmentOpportunity to support life-changing science and technologyCompensation and BenefitsThe hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $20.51–$30.76.This position may also b
