Senior Application Architect - Assistant Vice President

As a hands on Technical Architect, you will be responsible for end-to-end architecture, design, and implementation of mission-critical systems. You will define both macro and micro level architecture and implement with engineering teams to modernize a VC++ platform into Reacts JS/Java based event based high throughput, low latency micro services based platform, ensuring alignment with cloud-native principles.Key ResponsibilitiesArchitecture & Platform DesignDefine and evolve the architecture for a distributed, cloud-native Investment Accounting platform, aligned with enterprise principles (scalability, resiliency, availability).Design modular microservices architectures, ensuring clear service boundaries, domain-driven design, and reusability across business capabilities.Establish event-driven architecture patterns for real-time processing, enabling decoupled and scalable workflows.Define data architecture and integration patterns, including unified data models, event contracts, and consistency strategies across IBOR/ABOR domains.Hands on experience and capability to walk the talk is critical. This is not architecture only role.Modernization Leadership (VC++ → Java)Lead the modernization of legacy VC++ systems into Java-based, distributed servicesDefine migration patterns, decomposition strategies, and phased transformation roadmapsEnsure functional equivalence where required, while enabling architectural evolution beyond legacy constraintsGuide teams on translating low-level C++ constructs into scalable Java service patterns (stateless services, async processing, etc.)Performance, Throughput & ScalabilityArchitect systems for high-throughput transaction processing and near real-time accounting workflowsDefine cache-driven design strategies (distributed caching, in-memory processing, read/write optimization)Establish performance benchmarks, scalability patterns, and capacity planning principlesCloud-Native & EngineeringDesign and implement for cloud-native (containerization, orchestration, DevSecOps).Establish cross-cutting capabilities:Observability (logging, metrics, tracing) for operational intelligence [Gaba, Sachin in chat | Teams]Resiliency patterns (retry, circuit breaker, idempotency)Security and compliance controlsEnsure API-first and contract-first design principles are adhered to.Required QualificationsExtensive experience in software architecture and distributed systems designStrong programming background in VC++ and Java, with proven experience in system modernization.Rich experience with AWS/Azure along with modern CICD platforms and pipeline as code.Deep expertise in:Event-driven architecturesMicroservices and domain-driven designHigh-performance and low-latency systemsExperience building large-scale distributed systems with low latency and high throughputStrong understanding of data consistency, transaction processing, and accounting-like systemsPreferred QualificationsExperience in Investment Accounting / Financial Services platforms (transactions, valuations, positions, multi-currency processing)Familiarity with:Observability and operational intelligence frameworksUnified data models and ledger-based architecturesExperience working in regulatory and audit-heavy environments (traceability, reconciliation.About State StreetAcross the globe, institutional investors rely on us to help them manage risk, respond to challenges, and drive performance and profitability.
