Employment Type:Part timeShift:Rotating ShiftDescription:Hours | Schedule:Part-time, 24 hours per weekPosition Summary:Under the direction of a technologist or radiologist, the Imaging Tech Assistant supports safe, efficient, and patient-centered imaging services. This role provides direct patient care that is sensitive to age, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs, while ensuring a clean, safe, and supportive care environment.The Imaging Tech Assistant contributes to workflow efficiency, patient comfort, and quality outcomes by assisting with exam preparation, patient positioning, and departmental operations in alignment with Trinity Health’s commitment to relationship-centered care.What the Imaging Tech Assistant will do:Patient Care & SupportAssist with direct patient care under supervision, ensuring dignity, comfort, and safety at all timesCommunicate clearly with patients and families regarding procedures, delays, and expectations to reduce anxiety and improve cooperationVerify patient identity using standard protocols (name, DOB, MRN) and confirm the ordered examPrepare patients for imaging exams, including positioning and assisting with transfersPerform delegated clinical tasks, which may include:Venipuncture, IV start/discontinuationPoint-of-care testing (POCT)MRI screening and completion of required forms (e.g., contrast, history)Monitor patient status and promptly escalate concerns to technologists, nurses, or radiologistsWorkflow & Clinical OperationsAssist with patient transport and flow throughout the departmentPrepare exam rooms and equipment for proceduresObtain and review relevant patient information (e.g., history, labs, allergies, prior imaging, implants)Accurately document patient data in systems such as PACS, RIS, and electronic health recordsEnsure specimens are properly labeled and delivered to the laboratory (if applicable)Environment, Safety & ComplianceMaintain a clean, safe, and organized care environmentFollow infection prevention protocols, including appropriate use of PPEAdhere to MRI safety and/or radiation safety standards as applicableMaintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulationsReport safety concerns, near misses, or incidents per organizational policyProfessional DevelopmentParticipate in required training, including:MRI and/or radiation safetyBasic Life Support (BLS)Annual mandatory educationEngage in ongoing learning to maintain and enhance skillsWhat the Imaging Tech Assistant will need:High School diploma or equivalent.Demonstrated experience in customer service, caregiving, or support role involving direct interaction with individuals.Basic computer proficiency, including use of email, internet browsers, and standard workplace applications. Ability to learn and navigate electronic health record (EHR) systems and imaging software (e.g., RIS, PACS) with training.Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (MA), EMT, or equivalent healthcare certification; or Enrollment in or completion of a healthcare-related training program (e.g., Radiologic Technology, Nursing, Medical Assistant, or similar)Preferred: At least Six (6) months of experience in a healthcare or patient-facing environment; experience assisting with basic patient care activities; exposure to hospital or clinical settings; familiarity with electronic health record systemsOur Commitment Rooted in our Mission and Core Values, we honor the dignity of every person and recognize the unique perspectives, experiences, and talents each colleague brings.
