Employment Type:Full timeShift:Day ShiftDescription:Come and join our dedicated team of pharmacy professionals at Johnson Memorial Hospital, located in Stafford Springs, CTYou would manage the Pharmacy day-to-day operations as well as pharmacy staff at Johnson Memorial Hospital. Ensures the safe and effective use of pharmaceuticals through their proper storage, handling, evaluation, preparation, compounding, labeling, dispensing, and administration in conjunction with state and federal regulations and departmental policies. Maintains proper records. Follows department guidelines with regard to clinical interventions and provides drug information as required and /or requested.Position PurposeManage the Pharmacy day-to-day operations as well as pharmacy staff at Johnson Memorial Hospital.  Ensures the safe and effective use of pharmaceuticals through their proper storage, handling, evaluation, preparation, compounding, labeling, dispensing, and administration in conjunction with state and federal regulations and departmental policies.  Maintains proper records.  Follows department guidelines with regard to clinical interventions and provides drug information as required and /or requested.What you will do: Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate the performance of pharmacy staffProvide input into development of departmental policies and procedures, goals and objectivesOrders and oversees controlled substance inventory in the hospital and participates in the hospital drug diversion committeePrepare, dispense, and supervise the preparation of all medications for patient consumptionCheck for allergies, potential drug-drug interactions/incompatibilities, and adverse drug reactions on all patients before dispensing medicationAssess need for formulary items ordered and accordingly, initiates contact with prescriber or benefits provider for substituteMonitor appropriate lab data to assure patients receive proper dose of medications/nutritionAdvise other health care professionals on drug interactions, incompatibilities, side effects, and proper administration of medications.Minimum Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy or a Pharm D degreeOne (1) to three (3) years of previous related pharmacist experience.  Previous management experience preferred.Licensure required as a Pharmacist by the state of Connecticut.Work requires the ability to counsel and educate patients and their families, communicate effectively with physicians and other health care professionals, assign and follow-up on the work of other employees, or performs other duties requiring a comparable level of communication skill.Work requires competency in providing direct patient care to pediatric, adolescent, young adult, adult, and geriatric patients.Position Highlights and BenefitsFull time 40hr salary position, normally Mon-Fri days with flexibility to work off hours and on call to support the needs of the departmentGreat benefits and Health Insurance Coverage starting day 1Ministry/Facility InformationJohnson Memorial Hospital and Home & Community Health Services provide a continuum of health care services to those living and working in north central Connecticut and western Massachusetts.
