JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTSWe are searching for a self-disciplined, highly motivated, and customer service-oriented individual to join the Human Resources Office at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State. This role will be a mixture of day-to-day responsibilities, as well as special projects, in a fast-paced, confidential environment. Working hours will average approximately 20 hours/week, Monday through Friday, during regular business hours.ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.You will:Perform general administrative tasks, to include: greet visitors and answer phone and emails, provide directions or information, and address routine inquiries; distribute incoming mail, documents, awards, and supplies; and maintain office files and office supplies inventoryGenerate and review reports and spreadsheets; proofread documents for accuracy; create and send routine memos and letters from established templates; update data and track changesSupport meeting, event, and onboarding coordination by organizing schedules and locations, sending reminders, and managing follow‑up actionsAssist with routine travel arrangements and expense reportsAssist with various human resource and talent acquisition related projectsRequired Skills/Experience areas include:Minimum of 2+ years of relevant experienceProficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)Proven success in an office environment, where various forms of communication and organizational skills were crucial to be effectiveDemonstrated discretion and professionalism in handling confidential and sensitive informationPrevious success prioritizing tasks, resolving routine issues, and working effectively both independently and collaborativelyDemonstrated skill in proofreading and ensuring high‑quality, error‑free workPreferred Skills/Experience areas include:Human resources or talent acquisition environmentAtlassian Confluence and Jira, or other collaboration/ project management/ tracking softwareWorkday or other human capital management systemsYour working location will be a hybrid of on-site/work from home, on-site location is State College, PA.
