Optical Design and Analysis Engineer (Experienced or Lead)Company:The Boeing CompanyBoeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is looking for an Optical Design and Analysis Engineer (Experienced or Lead) to join our team in Albuquerque, NM developing advanced concepts on a DOD propriety program. We are seeking candidates with experience in design and analysis of complex optical assemblies or systems. This position will work with extremely talented, high performing, multi-disciplined engineering teams to work on start-of-the-art adaptive optics and optical imaging systems.Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including experienced and lead level engineers.Position Responsibilities:Develop subsystem architecture and designs of optical systems, assemblies, components, etc. to be integrated into higher level systems and platformsDefine optical systems, assemblies, components, etc. performance and tolerance requirementsPerform trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict components, interconnects and system performance and to optimize design around established requirementsDefine and conduct tests of various kinds to validate performance of designs to requirementsAnalyze data to validate designs of complex optical systems, components, etc.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement5+ years of experience in design and/or modeling electro-optical systems such as Zemax OpticStudio, Code V, or similar5+ years of experience using scientific programming languages (i.e. python, MATLAB, etc.) for data analysis and/or modelingPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Bachelor of Science degree in optical, electrical engineering or physicsLevel 4: 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experienceLevel 4: 9+ years of experience in design and/or modeling complex electro-optical systems such as Zemax OpticStudio, Code V, or similarLevel 4: 9+ years of experience using scientific programming languages such as python, MATLAB, etc. for data analysis or modelingExperience working with adaptive optics systemsExperience with data processing and image analysis techniquesExperience designing and integrating complex optical systemsDrug Free Workplace:Boeing is a Drug Free Workplace where post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when criteria is met as outlined in our policies.At Boeing, we strive to deliver a Total Rewards package that will attract, engage, and retain the top talent.  Elements of the Total Rewards package include competitive base pay and variable compensation opportunities. The Boeing Company also provides eligible employees with an opportunity to enroll in a variety of benefit programs, generally including health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and several programs that provide for both paid and unpaid time away from work. The specific programs and options available to any given employee may vary depending on eligibility factors such as geographic location, date of hire, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Summary pay range for experienced (level 3): $112,200 - $151,800Summary pay range for lead (level 4): $136,850 - $185,150Language Requirements:Not ApplicableEducation:Bachelor's Degree or EquivalentRelocation:This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.Export Control Requirement:This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements.
