Senior Mechanical System Design & Analysis EngineerCompany:The Boeing CompanyThe Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) organization is hiring a Senior Mechanical Systems Design & Analysis Engineer to join the Integrated Design Engineering (IDE) Team in Huntsville, Alabama on the Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Mechanical Engineering Capability Team.The IDE team is responsible for the development, release and maintenance of the technical data package for developmental or flight hardware as well as supporting production and special test equipment design for various products within the IAMD portfolio. IDE supported programs include Intermediate Fires and Protection Controls (IFPC-2) (pending contract award), and the Boeing Patriot Advanced Capability 3 (PAC-3) Seeker and Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (ABMD) product lines. These programs encompass new design as well test, manufacturing and production support for complex electro-mechanical assemblies.Position Responsibilities:Develops and documents mechanical engineering designs and analysis, including technical data packages, test plans, post-test reports, process specifications, and work instructionsDevelops cost reduction proposals, calculates return on investment, develops project requirements and schedules, and implements them into productionPerforms and documents analyses to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specificationsSupports on-going production activities and provides real-time support as non-conformances ariseSupports engineering release processes to include program Configuration Control Board(s)Contributes to supplier development, test, production, and troubleshooting activitiesProvides leadership, coaching, and technical oversight to other mechanical engineersAdvises, assists and checks mechanical engineering work products with a primary outcome of technical integrity while enabling the achievement of business goalsDirects the development and documentation of large scale, complex mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment requirements to establish the system design.Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.Serves as technical consultant for disposition, corrective actions and coordination with cross-functional groups to identify/implement solutions and drive strategic improvements relative to production processes.Support the development and documentation of mechanical and fluid systems and thermal environment to establish the system design.Lead activities to validate and verify mechanical and fluid systems requirements.Lead the development, maintenance or modification of system components' designs/proposals to provide installation and detail documentation.Perform and document analyses.Manage supplier development, test and production activities and directs supplier(s) to optimize integration and achieve program goals.Prioritize, delegate and track performance and documentation of analyses of mechanisms, components and mechanical systems selecting appropriate methods to validate or assess the design.Support proposal preparation and new business development efforts.Coaches and mentors others.This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. secret clearance Post Start is required. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)14+ years of experience in a mechanical engineering related roleKnowledge of aerospace structure, materials strengths and properties, design criteria, loading conditions, and processesSkill and ability to: collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sourcesAbility to digest functional requirements and apply them to the productAbility to work in a fast-paced team environment to produce high quality engineering productsPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Excellent written and verbal communication skillsUnderstanding of Boeing Engineering Standards and Design PracticesStrong understanding of GD&T concepts, practice and implementationExperience with thermal and vibration environmental testingExperience with stress, thermal and vibration/shock analysisExperience in supporting full-rate production program(s)Experience in development programsStrong ability to build trust and connection with the team and stakeholdersStrong ability to model and inspire servant leadership style, and model seek, speak, and listen behaviorsFlexibility, adaptability, and being comfortable with a highly dynamic and exciting work environmentExperience using Boeing Common Non-Recurring Product Development (C-NRPD) or equivalent Boeing Development ProcessesAbility to produce and understand engineering drawings and 3-D Computer Aided Design models using NX and/or CreoStrong understanding of Finite Element Modeling techniquesExperience with full Model Based Definition (CAD)Experience with 2D-Drawing authority programsActive U.S. Secret ClearanceConflict of Interest:Successful candidates for this job must satisfy the Company's Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.Relocation:Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position.
