Main Purpose of Job
A Registered Nurse is the full performance level of work providing direct nursing care to students at the Maryland School for the Deaf. This is a 10-month school year, on-call substitute position.\r\n
POSITION DUTIES
Administer medications (via oral, topical, inhalation, and injection) as\r\nprescribed for medical conditions or injuries. Assess, evaluate, and\r\nmonitor students' current medical and emotional health status and identify\r\nnursing needs of students. Maintain accurate and adequate records of\r\nnursing care and observations and treatment according to established\r\nprocedures. Maintain student health center facility. Provide\r\nauxiliary duties as needed. On-call nurse substitutes must be available\r\non an on-call basis. This is a contractual position.\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
\r\nEducation: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurses.\r\n\r\n\r\nExperience: None.\r\n \r\n\r\n
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Pediatric, school, or camp nurse experience desirable. Experience\r\nwith or willingness to learn American Sign Language (ASL).\r\n
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215 or possess a current multi-state license in party states that candidates have declared as primary states of residence.\r\n2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. \r\n3. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and maintain current certification. \r\n
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
\r\n1. Employees in this classification are subject to call-in and, therefore, will be required to provide the facility with a phone number at which they can be reached.\r\n\r\n\r\n2. Employees in the classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with the Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.\r\n\r\n\r\n3. New hires are\r\nsubject to a criminal background investigation at their own expense. (Maryland\r\nCode, Family Law Article 1, Sections 5-560-568)\r\n\r\n\r\n4. Candidates will need to\r\nprovide three letters of recommendation.\r\n\r\n\r\n
