Job SummaryJob Description SummarySummary - Responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, organizing and preparing samples, conducting experiments, and recording and analyzing data. Candidates who are in the process of completing their bachelor's degree have a grace period of six months from their hire date (up to 1 year if starting per diem) to provide degree equivalency verification.Does this position require Patient Care? NoEssential Functions-Perform laboratory experiments following established protocols and procedures. -Prepare and handle samples, reagents, and solutions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety guidelines. -Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, conducting routine calibration and troubleshooting as needed. -Record experimental data accurately and maintain organized records of procedures, protocols, and results. -Compile and analyze data using appropriate statistical and analytical methods. -Assist in data interpretation and presentation, contributing to research findings and reports. Additional Job Details (if applicable)POSITION SUMMARY:The Research Technician in the AMD biomarker group involves both research and administrative responsibilities. Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research technician will focus on developing and carrying out the research in retinal disease. The candidate will propose and undertake a mentored, innovative project or challenge to improve retinal disease diagnosis. Administrative duties, include (but are not limited to) maintenance of laboratory inventories, ordering laboratory supplies, oversees maintenance of laboratory equipment, and attends Staff meetings.Design and perform research studiesMaintain HRPP status with ongoing and future studies with local IRBScreen, consent, and recruit potential research patients. Sample collection, processing and sample organization & storage.Retinal Test Capture and AnalysisUpload patient data, data organization and image grading & analysis Perform bio-statistical analysisWrite abstract and articles for publicationsOrganize weekly lab meetings and presentation scheduleRecruit and onboard new trainees to the research team ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Identify, recruit, and consent study subjectsRead, analyze and summarize published literatureDevelop an understanding of clinical researchAttend relevant meetingsMeet regularly with mentor to review project progress and milestonesWrite a final report describing the project and resultsWORKING CONDITIONS:Potential Exposure to Blood Borne Pathogens.
