The Property Control team members are part of the Financial Information Management Group of Business Services. This group works to support the proper accounting and attestation of financially recognized capital equipment values including guidance on capital cost valuations, physical inventories, loans, transfers, audits, dispositions, training, and analytics. The team is responsible for the consistent evaluation and maintenance of the asset management module of UW Madison's financial software in accordance with GAAP, Federal, State and UW System reporting requirements.Key Job Responsibilities:Performs complex accounting and auditing reconciliations, journal entries, schedules, and reportsMonitors automated financial systems, develops, and documents controls to ensure system reliability and data integrityFacilitates trainings and provides financial guidance to management and staffAnswers questions and provides accounting related information to internal and external stakeholders according to established policies and proceduresPrepares and analyzes financial reports, data and records, identifies discrepancies, investigates, and recommends solutions as neededForecasts budget balances and recommends corrective action as neededLeads and executes the development, organization, preparation, and updating of complex financial statements, journals, accounts, ledgers, and reports for various financial needs within an automated financial system to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial transactionsDevelops and manages complex work unit budgets, analyzing funding sources, operational needs, budget trends, and financial commitmentsDepartment:Division of Business Services, Financial Information ManagementCompensation:The starting salary for the position is $56,112; actual pay will depend on experience and qualificationsThis position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off, competitively priced health/dental/vision/life insurance, tax-advantaged savings accounts, and participation in the nationally recognized Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) pension fund. For a summary of benefits, please see https://www.wisconsin.edu/ohrwd/benefits/download/fasl.pdf.Required Qualifications:-Minimum of 2 years of accounting, finance, or business administration experiencePreferred Qualifications:-Demonstrate knowledge and experience with the principles and practices of governmental accounting, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).-Experience working with large volumes of data records and related database systems.-Exposure to university, state, and federal accounting and administrative rules, regulations, and procedures.-Business experience including:-Asset related accounting and reporting principles and practices-Financial management, reporting and analysis experience-Asset management related data gathering and analysis-Change management and process improvement-Experience in complex and diverse operating environments requiring analysis of process, process change and risk review, assessment, and development.-Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.-Demonstrated problem solving decision-making ability within a team environment.-Skills in managing multiple, complex activities and projects simultaneously.-Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in developing, applying, and interpreting policies and procedures.-Strong Microsoft Office Suite experience.-Strong oral and written communication skills.Education:Preferred: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field of business studies preferredHow to Apply:We are eager to learn more about how your experience and passion may align with this position.
