SDV is a new vehicle intelligence platform that will underpin all our future innovations across a wide range of technological advancements, including EVs and expanded automated driving. This means that you can potentially put a fingerprint on the vehicles that drive down the road!This role is for a highly technical quality leader who understands how connectivity software systems are built, integrated, tested, and released. The right candidate will bring deep expertise in areas such as cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, Ethernet, and related vehicle communication systems, and will help ensure our connectivity software is reliable, scalable, and ready for production.You will work across development, validation, integration, suppliers, and operations teams to drive quality from architecture through release. This is a staff-level technical leadership role focused on building robust test strategy, improving software health visibility, and raising the quality bar across the connectivity organization.What You’ll Do (Responsibilities):Define and lead software quality strategy for future Connectivity software products.Provide technical leadership for test, integration, and release quality across connectivity domainsLead the team to develop and drive test strategy for hourly, daily, and weekly software buildsEstablish processes and metrics to measure software quality, performance, and overall software healthLead technical deep dives to identify risks, root cause issues, and drive corrective actionsCreate and drive a strong quality front door process for connectivity softwarePartner with development, supplier, execution, and IT teams to resolve quality issues efficientlyCollaborate with software engineering teams on architecture, observability, infrastructure, and reliability needsSupport production readiness reviews, deployment planning, and operational quality improvementsUse automation, data, and observability to improve test coverage, issue detection, and release confidenceDrive continuous improvement in quality processes, tools, and best practices across the organizationYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related software subject area7+ years of experience in automotive connectivity, telematics, or embedded software systems5+ years in software quality, software engineering, systems integration, or a closely related technical roleStrong working knowledge of automotive connectivity and communication software architectureDeep technical experience in key connectivity domains such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, cellular, Digital Key, Power moding, Connectivity, Diagnostic, cyber security, OTA, Ethernet, or CANExperience leading quality strategy and test approach for complex, cross-functional software systemsAbility to understand complex system behavior, identify failure modes, and drive root cause resolutionExperience developing test strategy, quality requirements, validation plans, and release readiness criteriaStrong communication skills with the ability to influence technical direction across multiple teamsProven ability to work independently and lead through technical judgmentPassing score on a technical coding assessmentWhat Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)Master of Science Degree in a related engineering fieldExperience in GM SW development, quality and release process and Issue tracking systems (JIRA/XRAY)Strong understanding of vehicle data communication systems (i.e. CAN, ETHERNET)Experience with connectivity simulators, lab test environments, and domain-specific test toolsExperience building quality insights through telemetry, observability, and automationDeep Understanding of networking and software development in distributed systemsCompensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.The salary range for this role is 190,000 and 240,000. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.Benefits: GM offers a variety of health and wellbeing benefit programs.
