Research Associate, Analytical Development

The Role:Moderna is seeking a perfect candidate for a position based at the Norwood, MA site. This individual will support the development, optimization, and execution of cell-based bioassays to enable release and stability testing of mRNA-based therapeutics and vaccines. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment. This role will work closely with cross-functional partners in Analytical Development, Quality, Process Development, and Research to generate high-quality data supporting clinical and commercial programs.Here’s What You’ll Do: Execute cell-based bioassays to assess potency and functional activity of mRNA-based productsSupport assay development, optimization, and qualification activities under guidancePerform routine cell culture and maintain cell linesAnalyze and document experimental data with accuracy and attention to detailAssist in troubleshooting assay performance and investigating deviationsFollow established protocols, SOPs, and regulatory expectationsContribute to authoring technical documents such as protocols and reportsCollaborate with team members and cross-functional partners to support project timelinesHere’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)BS degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Immunology, Biological Engineering, or related field with 0–3+ years of relevant experienceHands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and/or bioassays preferredFamiliarity with techniques such as ELISA, cell-based assays, or reporter assays is a plusFamiliarity with nucleic acids (e.g. RNA, DNA) and delivery systems (e.g. LNP, lipoplex, AAV)Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols accuratelyBasic data analysis and problem-solving skillsStrong organizational and communication skillsTeam-oriented mindset with willingness to learn and growThis position is site-based, requiring you to be at Moderna’s site full-time. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An individual’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and business or organizational needs.
