As a Infrastructure Engineer Sr within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in Birmingham, AL, Dallas, TX, Cleveland, OH, Phoenix, AZ or Pittsburgh, PA.PNC will not provide sponsorship for employment visas or participate in STEM OPT for this position. Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Skill SetCore Infrastructure & SystemsDeep expertise in enterprise infrastructure design, implementation, and operations, including compute, storage, and networking platformsStrong knowledge of Windows Server and Linux operating systems, including performance tuning, patching, and lifecycle managementExperience supporting 24×7 production environments with on‑call and after‑hours support responsibilitiesAdvanced troubleshooting skills across hardware, OS, virtualization, and network layersNetworking & ConnectivitySolid understanding of LAN/WAN architecture, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, and load balancingExperience working with firewalls, VPNs, and secure remote access solutionsAbility to partner with network and security teams to ensure resilient, secure connectivityVirtualization & CloudHands-on experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper‑V, or equivalent)Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts (IaaS, PaaS, hybrid architectures)Experience supporting or transitioning workloads to cloud platforms such as Azure (Windows 365) or AWSFamiliarity with cloud governance, cost management, and operational best practices in a multi‑cloud or hybrid environmentDisaster Recovery & ResilienceProven experience in disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity planning, including design, testing, and executionAbility to assess infrastructure risks and design highly available and fault‑tolerant solutionsParticipation in DR exercises and real‑world incident recoveryAutomation & ToolingExperience with infrastructure automation and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, or similar)Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts and tools (e.g., ARM, Terraform, or equivalent)Understanding of monitoring, logging, and alerting tools to ensure operational healthSecurity & ComplianceStrong security mindset with experience implementing least‑privilege access, hardening standards, and secure configurationsCollaboration with security teams on vulnerability remediation and compliance requirementsUnderstanding of infrastructure security controls in both on‑prem and cloud environmentsTechnical Leadership & CollaborationActs as a technical escalation point for complex infrastructure issuesMentors junior engineers and contributes to knowledge sharing and operational documentationPartners effectively with application, cloud, network, and security teams on cross‑functional initiativesProcess, Documentation & Change ManagementExperience working within ITIL or similar operational frameworks (incident, problem, and change management)Produces and maintains clear technical documentation, diagrams, and standardsParticipates in infrastructure planning, upgrades, and modernization effortsSoft Skills & Professional AttributesExcellent verbal and written communication skills, able to explain complex topics to technical and non‑technical audiencesStrong analytical and problem‑solving abilitiesAbility to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple initiativesDemonstrates ownership, reliability, and a continuous improvement mindsetPNC is an in-office company that fosters a supportive culture where employees can thrive and achieve balance.
