Job Description:Fidelity Investments Workplace Investing (WI) organization is seeking an experienced mainframe Software Engineer to join our Custom Client Solutions team within the Stock Plan Services (SPS) Technology organization. The person will play a key role in developing and delivering client specific enhancements on our Legacy Application to support our Plan Administration System. This role demands significant collaboration with members of various business and IT groups throughout the lifecycle of a typical project.Stock Plan Services administers equity compensation programs on behalf of public and private companies offering various compensations programs such as: Employee Stock Purchase Plans, Restricted Stock Awards/Units, Stock Option Plans, Stock Appreciation Rights and Performance based Awards. Currently SPS services over 1.6M participants employed by over 300 clients and spread out in 150 countries. The business is looking to further expand in the international equity compensation market, focused initially on western European countries and companies based there. As part of this business initiative, we are extending our capabilities to enable a truly global platform. Senior Software EngineerThe Expertise We’re Looking ForBachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five or more (5+) years of experience in the job offered or five or more (5+) years of experience as a technical lead in mainframe brokerage or stock plan services systems and application development.Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or three (3) years of experience as a technical lead in mainframe brokerage and stock plan services systems and application development.While not required, knowledge of ETL, Informatica, Java, Python, or other distributed languages is a plus The Purpose of Your Role Use business and technical knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex stock plan services software applications on a mainframe platform running under a Z/OS environment. The Skills You BringYour Demonstrated Expertise ('DE') in defining, developing, and leading an interactive team to implement scalable application solutionsYour DE in mainframe application development, automation, and support, utilizing COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, VSAM, MQ-Series, and SQLYour DE in mainframe performance tuning and capacity planning, including ways to reduce I/Os, CPU Time, MSUs, and MIPs, using Strobe, iStrobe, and Platinum DetectorYour DE in mainframe application development including - file format and comparison using File-AID; version management using Endeavor; debugging and unit testing using Intertest and Abend-AID; and job scheduling using Control-MThe Value You DeliverSenior engineer working within an Agile team, including requirements gathering, development, and end-to-end testingDefining, developing, and leading interactive team to implement application-level architecture, giving due consideration to application scalability and extensibility, and conformance to established standardsProviding on-site and on-call support as needed and acting as a subject matter expert as part of a cross-functional crisis management teamDeveloping applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the divisionRecommending development testing tools and methodologies and reviewing and validating test plansResolving technical roadblocks involving multiple technologies and making recommendations and improvements to avoid them in the futureCollaborating with multiple layers of management to share approaches, develop solutions, and improve capabilities throughout the organizationLeading collaborative sessions and ceremonies with stakeholders and providing guidance and feedback to team membersBeing responsible for QA readiness of software deliverablesPlanning and conducting system testingDeveloping comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystemsEstablishing full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platformsBeing responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budgetAdvising on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projectsPlanning and coordinating project schedules and assignments for multiple projectsActing as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issuesProviding technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiativesPerforming independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several initiativesDeveloping original and creative technical solutions to on-going development effortsHow Your Work Impacts the Organization Develops applications and provides support on a mainframe environment, using COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL, MQ-Series, SQL, and VSAM files.
