If you're ready to drive change and make history, apply now!What you’ll do Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following: The Director of Finance Operations will lead multiple Finance functions for Scout Motors, ensuring benchmark accuracy, timeliness, and innovative practices for the Finance department. The role is responsible for 1) Corporate Functions Controlling, 2) Accounting, and 3) Payroll. The Director will drive financial discipline, enhance processes, and ensure compliance while partnering closely with business leaders to support strategic decision-making. As Scout Motors is a start-up, the Director is often tasked with defining and solving new challenges within the company to ensure high financial standards are maintained. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Operational Excellence Build, lead, and develop a high-performing finance operations team Establish and enforce strong internal controls and governance frameworks Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization Partner cross-functionally to improve financial visibility and decision-making Support strategic initiatives, including system implementations and scaling efforts Controlling of Corporate Functions Serve as the head of the Controlling Team responsible for Scout Corporate Functions (e.g., HR, IT, Legal, Finance, Administration, Procurement, Executive, Compliance) Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes for corporate cost centers Provide variance analysis and actionable insights to department leaders Ensure cost discipline and alignment with company financial targets Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic initiatives Drive transparency and accountability across corporate spending Accounting Oversight Oversee the Scout Accounting department, which is responsible for all aspects of the function, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes Interface with the shareholders’ Group Accounting functions to maintain IFRS compliance and practices Oversee preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules Manage audits (external and internal), ensuring readiness and resolution of findings Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes, systems, and controls Payroll Oversight Oversee the Scout Payroll department, which is responsible for end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local payroll regulations Partner with HR to manage employee data integrity and compensation changes Implement and maintain robust payroll controls and audit processes Location & Travel Expectations: This role may be based out of the Scout Motors corporate headquarters in Charlotte, NC.  This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.  Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time. Occasional business travel (mostly domestic, occasionally international) to other locations will be required. Here's what else you'll bring: Education/Certifications: A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (advanced degrees or functional accreditations (CMA, CPA) a plus. Years of Experience required in type of role: 12+ years of experience in various Finance disciplines, preferably in an manufacturing and product-based industry with significant management experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the capability to explain complex financial concepts to non-experts and present to senior management and stakeholders Expert knowledge of financial and treasury principles, including cash management, debt financing, risk management, investment strategies, and insurance oversight Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed financial decisions Leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of building
