You’ll apply your technical expertise to troubleshoot equipment, integrate process changes, and drive reliability improvements. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on work with automated systems and wants to bridge the gap between equipment design, software functionality, and production performance. We’re working a minimum of 5 days a week onsite as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned: Equipment Support & Troubleshooting Provide advanced support to the technician team to diagnose and resolve equipment issues, reducing downtime and improving line efficiency. Troubleshoot automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, vision systems, and data interfaces. Collaborate with maintenance and software teams to ensure system connectivity and performance stability. Sustaining & Process Improvement Identify and implement automation improvements to enhance equipment reliability, process control, and throughput. Support process or product updates by modifying and validating existing equipment software or logic. Partner with cross-functional teams and vendors to deliver effective solutions during installation and hypercare phases. Lifecycle & Documentation Participate in all phases of the equipment lifecycle, from concept and design through deployment, maintenance, and sunsetting. Develop and maintain technical documentation including User Requirement Specifications (URS), Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), and validation reports (IQ/OQ/PQ). Contribute to internal equipment updates, fixture designs, and integration of standalone systems. Collaboration & Technical Leadership Serve as a technical liaison between manufacturing, design engineering, software, and vendor partners. Provide mentorship and guidance to technicians and engineers in troubleshooting methods and automation best practices. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Medtronic’s quality and operational excellence standards. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience OR a PhD with 0 years relevant experience Nice to Have Experience with FANUC and UR robot systems. Hands-on experience troubleshooting automated manufacturing or test systems. Working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, vision systems, and industrial communication networks. Experience with validation and equipment documentation (URS, FAT, SAT, IQ/OQ/PQ). Familiarity with MES, SCADA, or data collection platforms. Experience leading equipment installations or upgrades with cross-functional teams.
