Job DescriptionThe Role:The Group Leader will lead the die assembly team & small machines, and interact with die assembly, global die buy-off, welders and verification. Work will involve complex manufacturing problems including the need to root cause and follow issues to resolution – as well as sharing and using lessons learned from peer groups. This role requires the ability to use independent discernment. The group leader will lead & support GMS activities in their department as well as site. This leadership role will have employee engagement, technical skill development and continuous improvement as central theme.What You'll Do (Responsibilities):Comply with the terms of local and national labor agreementsFrequently contact and collaboration with others outside of the work groupResponsible for the effective use of personnel, material, and equipmentTrain and develop represented employeesLead technical guidance for complex process and projectsProvide direction and development to team and implement new tools and technics for the best method for manufacturing processesContact with partners outside the work group such as participation in strategic planningEvaluate or monitor expenditures for processes and/or equipmentEvaluate CAD/CAM dataWork with Problem Solving toolsPerform employee time keeping within Kronos applicationTMaCs daily updates (charging work hours, control the forecast vs expent and control the variances)Work with Technical Specialist and Subject Matter Experts to implement lessons learnedSpecific physical requirements of the position include the ability to:Work in a loud manufacturing environment that may not be climate controlled (conditions can be hot or cold)Possess good physical stamina and coordination to frequently and repetitively:Bend, twist, kneel, crouch and reach to perform workLift or carry materials weighing up to 15 lbs. and periodically carry or lift materials weighing up to 40 lbs.Walk and stand for prolonged periods of timeOccasionally sit, climb (including ladders and lifts) and drive vehicles and equipmentRead standardized work instructions, operate machines and tools, and perform quality inspectionsPromptly detect and respond to safety instructions, alarms, and signalsWear personal protective equipment, for example: safety glasses, gloves, hats, ear plugs, and safety shoesYour Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):One year of direct team supervisory experience or at least 5 months as an internal GM per diem group leaderExperience in Die construction process, such as machining, assembly, and verificationKnowledge of Problem-solving methodologiesAbility to read and understand blueprintsExceptional communication and presentation skills – solid background with MS OfficeChange ManagementEffective written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated interpersonal skills leading cross functional teamsSOP (Safety operation procedure)Effective at dealing with change and ambiguityTenacity to thrive in a challenging environmentAbility to lead hourly represented employeesMust be willing to work weekends and rotating shifts18 years of age or olderHigh School Diploma or equivalentWhat Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):4+ years of Tool and Die shop4+ years CNC technologies4+ years of experience in Dies construction processExperience in CNC Machine technologiesExperience in CAD/CAM software (NX and TEBIS)Ability to manipulate 3D models in NX to complete measurements and tool investigationWorking level knowledge of the GVDP (Global Vehicle Development Process)Bachelor's degree GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
