Raytheon’s Advanced Programs team is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer with experience in Electronic Warfare (EW) to support the development of next generation EW capabilities. In this role, you will lead and coordinate the design, development, and implementation of EW systems, working closely with cross‑functional engineering teams throughout the full lifecycle. This is a full‑time, on-site position located in Goleta, California.What You Will Do:Serve as the primary Systems Engineering focal point for the programLead the definition, development, and implementation of system architectures, algorithms, and interfaces for EW/Radar capabilities.Manage configuration process, performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specificationsPartner with the Program Chief Engineer in ensuring the engineering team aligns to cost/scheduleProvide technical directions to multi-disciplinary program teamsImplement and ensure adherence to systems engineering processes throughout the program lifecycleOversee the development and maintenance of technical documentation, including system specifications, design documents, and test plansCoordinate system engineering activities, including requirements analysis, system design, integration, and testingConduct system level trade studies and performance analysisParticipate in design reviews, technical meetings, and customer presentationsSupport program management with technical risk assessments and mitigation strategiesEnsure the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs architectural explorationDecomposes customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements and generates verification criteria and plans for the requirementsQualifications You Must Have:Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline (preferably Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or Physics) and 10+ years of relevant systems engineering experience in EW/Radar system development, including requirements decomposition, architecture definition, system level integration & verification planningExperience developing systems engineering artifacts such as requirements, specifications, interface control documents (ICDs), and verification/validation (V&V) plansExperience supporting system level technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR) and coordinating across multi-disciplinary engineering teamsActive and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearanceQualifications We Prefer:Advanced EW/Radar architecture, algorithms, or signal‑processing methodsExperience analyzing and modeling EW/Radar system performance, including RF chain and end‑to‑end behaviorRadar performance analysis tools or model development (e.g., MATLAB, algorithm prototyping)AI/ML techniques applied to signal processing or algorithm enhancementKnowledge of millimeter‑wave and microwave RF at the module or system levelExperience defining system architectures, performance budgets, and interface definitions (RF, digital, mixed‑signal)Integrating mixed‑signal modules into higher‑level assemblies, including interface and configuration managementModel‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools (e.g., Cameo)Agile development tools and workflows (e.g., Jira, Confluence)MATLAB, C/C++, Java, or DOORSExperience supporting integration, verification, or test activities for complex EW/Radar systemsExperience preparing technical documentation or delivering system‑level technical outputs to stakeholdersFlight test or field test experience supporting system-level evaluation and data analysisExperience developing or interpreting security and cybersecurity requirements relevant to government systemsWhat We Offer:Our values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world.
