Technology Solutions include Core Technologies in Livestock Identification, Dairy, Beef and Swine monitoring, for which the product/market fit is established, as well as products in discovery.About the roleAs an Algorithm Developer you will design and optimize signal processing and machine learning solutions for animal monitoring systems spanning edge devices and cloud/on-prem platforms. In this role, you will focus on developing high-performance models using existing datasets and work closely with other engineering teams to ensure successful integration into production systems.ResponsibilitiesTranslate real-world sensing challenges into robust algorithmic solutionsDevelop and optimize signal processing and embedded ML algorithms for constrained edge environmentsAnalyze datasets, evaluate model performance, and iterate to improve accuracy and robustnessCollaborate closely with hardware, firmware, and software teams to integrate algorithms into production systemsEstablish best practices for experimentation, validation, and reproducibilityWrite efficient, maintainable production-quality codeDocument algorithms, and experimental results RequirementsBSc in a relevant STEM field3+ years of hands-on experience in algorithm development (signal processing and/or embedded ML)Strong practical experience with machine learning and signal processingExperience training, evaluating, and tuning models using real-world datasetsExperience optimizing models under resource constraints (CPU, memory, power)Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in noisy, real-world conditionsProficiency in MATLAB or Python, and C/C++Experience with software engineering best practices (GIT, code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD)High level of ownership, curiosity, and a hands-on approach.Strong collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams and ability to drive solutions end-to-end.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Advantage:MSc and/or more years of experience in algorithm developmentExperience with IoT or sensor-based systemsFamiliarity with embedded ML / TinyML / model quantizationExposure to A/B testing or field validation frameworksBackground in animal health / agriculture domainsMentoring or technical leadership experienceRequired Skills: Algorithmic Design, Algorithms, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Communication, Debugging, MATLAB, Multidisciplinary Collaboration, Python (Programming Language)Preferred Skills: Computer Vision, Data Engineering, Data Modeling, Data Science, Data Visualization, High Performance Computing (HPC), Machine Learning (ML), Real-Time Programming, Software DevelopmentCurrent Employees apply HERECurrent Contingent Workers apply HERESearch Firm Representatives Please Read Carefully Merck & Co., Inc., Rahway, NJ, USA, also known as Merck Sharp & Dohme LLC, Rahway, NJ, USA, does not accept unsolicited assistance from search firms for employment opportunities.
