We are looking to hire a Oncology RN for our MercyOne Richard Deming Cancer Center Des Moines Hematology OncologyAs a Oncology RN at MercyOne, you will apply professional nursing care and skills in outpatient setting. The nurse provides patient care activities to inpatients and outpatients of diverse ages as assigned- young adults to geriatrics. Must be able to accommodate working at both the main campus office and West Lakes office as needed and on a rotating basisSchedule:Full time 40 hours a weekM-F 8a-4:30pNo Weekends no HolidaysGeneral Requirements:Applies professional nursing skills in the provision of the treatment of ill and injured patients utilizing the four aspects of the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.Demonstrates ability to recognize and assess emergency needs of patients and initiate therapeutic procedures as needed within their scope of practice.Acts to facilitate interdisciplinary communication. Including but not limited to side effects of radiation therapy:HypovolemiaSkin care- radiation dermatitisLymphoedemaMucositisPain management – mild to severe-GI/GU system side effectsMedication management /patient educationEmotional supportMaintains appropriate aseptic technique for preparation, procedures and medications administered.Dressing changesWound drainage devicesAssists patient with ambulation, elimination needs (toilet, urinal, bed pan) and undressing/ dressing protecting patients from injury/falls.Reprocessing of instrumentationUtilizes hospital information system to process data and retrieve patient information.Proficient in accessing and utilization of hospital patient information databases:PACSWorks independently with limited direct supervision using MercyOne Medical Center policies, nursing standards, and professional judgment.Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up, maintenance, and use (i.e., IV pumps, monitoring equipment, and drainage devices).Maintains confidentiality regarding all patient/personnel information.Must be a self-starter and able to work independently and make appropriate decisions within clinic guidelines.Accurately documents asses
