We are so glad you are interested in joining Sutter Health!Organization:SMF-Sutter Med Foundation- CentralPosition Overview:Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require judgment and knowledge of sophisticated equipment. Assists in areas such as visual acuity testing. Performs more extensive ophthalmic care patient work ups including some advanced technical testing, i.e. Functional Dexterity Test (FDT), contrast sensitivity, Intra-Ocular Lens (IOL) Master, pupil check, angle checks, pachymetry. Assists the ophthalmologist in performing minor surgical procedures, greets and identifies patients, takes a preliminary history, and, as needed, performs visual fields, dilates pupils, and departmental duties to improve patient flow and department function.Job Description:EDUCATION:HS Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:COA-Certified Ophthalmic AssistantBLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare ProviderTYPICAL EXPERIENCE:1 year recent relevant experienceSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology, especially relating to the eye.Knowledge of scope of practice of a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant.Competency in basic Ophthalmic Assisting skills such as chart documentation, taking vital signs, preparing patients for exam, performing ophthalmology testing.Ability to efficiently operate Ophthalmology equipment.Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities paying particular attention to detail.Job Shift:DaysSchedule:Full TimeShift Hours:9Days of the Week:Monday - FridayWeekend Requirements:NoneBenefits:YesUnions:NoPosition Status:Non-ExemptWeekly Hours:40Employee Status:RegularSutter Health is an equal opportunity employer EOE/M/F/Disability/Veterans.Pay Range is $32.80 to $42.64 / hourThe compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled.
