Job DescriptionThe Harborview Kidney/Dialysis Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Dialysis Technician.WORK SCHEDULEPart-Time / 36 hours per weekRotating/Variable Shifts POSITION HIGHLIGHTSProvide front-line dialysis and pheresis servicesPrepare, assemble, operate, and monitor equipment used for dialysis and pheresis treatmentsPrepare dialysis solutions and concentrates Participate in quality control on dialysis equipmentPRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESAssemble, prepare, prime, and preset dialysis and pheresis equipment and materials in the dialysis lab and at patient bedside according to nephrology ordersMaintain current knowledge of operation procedures and maintenance of new equipmentReprocess and disinfect hemodialysis equipment per policy and procedureAseptically dispense dialysis solution to include calculating, measuring pre-weight of dry chemicals, and verifying through chemical analysis for accuracy Make changes in dialysis composition by compounding any additionsIn coordination with RN, perform bedside plasmapheresis treatmentParticipate in on-call coverage rotation for urgent dialysis set-ups outside laboratory business hoursREQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONSAn Associate’s Degree with emphasis in chemistry, biology, or medical sciences AND two years experience in a medical laboratory to include one year in a dialysis/pheresis laboratory at the level of Dialysis/Pheresis Technician Trainee.Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.DESIREDCCHT certified from a national accreditation organizationABOUT HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTERAs the region's only Level I Trauma and verified burn center, Harborview Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility owned by King County and operated by UW Medicine.
