Job DescriptionUW Medical Center-Montlake– Clinical Engineering has an outstanding opportunity for a Biomedical Electronics Technician 2WORK SCHEDULE40 hours per weekDay ShiftPOSITION HIGHLIGHTSThe BIOMEDICAL ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN 2 performs journey-level biomedical electronics work troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, installing, constructing and testing analog and/or digital electronic equipment or apparatus used in the patient care, life support, and clinical laboratory areas of a health care facility. Work from schematic diagrams, blueprints, service documentation, federal, state and local electrical and fire safety codes, and from verbal instructions. This position may support all UW Medicine campusesPRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES•Repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect medical equipment and instrumentation, including life-support equipment.•Perform preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices, and systems.•Diagnose and correct system and equipment malfunctions.•Maintain documentation on new equipment, inspections, and equipment repairs and failures.•Assist with and evaluate third-party repairs.•Provide technical assistance and instruction to personnel regarding equipment operation and maintenance.•Review outcome of preventive maintenance actions and make recommendations to department staff concerning improvements.•Provide mentoring to other biomedical electronics technicians.•May assist senior biomedical electronics technicians or supervisor with in-service educational programs on use of equipment.REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONSAn Associate's Degree in Electronics, Biomedical Equipment Technology or related fieldTwo years of experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment in the hospital settingComputing and networking knowledge or experienceValid drivers license required for travel between sitesEquivalent education/experience may be consideredABOUT UW MEDICINE – WHERE YOUR IMPACT GOES FURTHER UW Medicine is Washington’s only health system that includes a top-rated medical school and an internationally recognized research center.
