About the OpportunityJob SummaryThe Undergraduate Research Assistant will support research and operational activities within the Defense Industrial Base Institute (DIBI) at Northeastern University. The role contributes to applied research on defense industrial base challenges, including advanced manufacturing, supply chain resilience, and emerging maritime and autonomous systems technologies. The position combines research support, analytical assistance, and administrative coordination in a fast-paced interdisciplinary environment.ResponsibilitiesConduct background research on advanced manufacturing adoption, emerging technologies, and defense industrial base trendsSupport research on submarine industrial base and supply chain constraints, including literature reviews and data gatheringAssist with research on unmanned systems, including drone technologies and unmanned surface vessel (USV) productionTake detailed meeting notes and help prepare summaries, memos, and briefings for internal and external stakeholdersSupport preparation of research materials, presentations, and internal reportsAssist with organizing research files, tracking deliverables, and coordinating project materialsProvide general administrative and coordination support for DIBI research activities, meetings, and events as neededQualificationsMust be a current undergraduate studentU.S. citizen (required due to federal funding restrictions)Strong written and verbal communication skillsStrong attention to detail and ability to synthesize information clearly and conciselyInterest in defense, technology, supply chains, or public policy preferredAbility to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervisionProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Teams/Zoom experience preferredEligibility Requirement: Must be a U.S. citizen due to federal funding requirementsPosition TypeTemporaryAdditional InformationNortheastern University considers factors such as candidate work experience, education and skills when extending an offer.  Northeastern has a comprehensive benefits package for benefit eligible employees.
