Working in the Booth Family Center for Special Collections under the direction of the Head of Archival Processing, the Processing Archivist will arrange and describe the Glen F. Brown Papers (approximately 115 cubic feet of materials). Additionally, the Processing Archivist will collaborate with the Head of Archival Processing and the Digital Repository and Preservation Librarian to assist with the digitization of the Glen F. Brown Papers and twelve other collections related to the Saudi Aramco company.The Booth Family Center for Special Collections at the Georgetown University Library holds a number of collections that document the history of the Saudi Aramco company. These collections include business records, reports, correspondence, photographs, maps, audiovisual media and other materials. The collections date from the 1930s through the 2000s.The Processing Archivist for the Aramco Collections will arrange and describe the Glen F. Brown Papers, producing a DACS (Describing Archives: A Content Standard)-compliant finding aid and making it publicly available online via ArchivesSpace. The archivist will also assist in coordinating the digitization of the Glen F. Brown Papers and twelve other collections related to the Saudi Aramco company. The digital content will be published online via DigitalGeorgetown, Georgetown University’s repository for institutional scholarship and unique digital collections.Work InteractionsThis position reports to the Head of Archival Processing in the Booth Family Center for Special Collections. The term employee will consult with the Head of Archival Processing to ensure the project remains on track and achieves defined goals and objectives. They will work with the Digital Repository and Preservation Librarian to coordinate the digitization of materials. The term employee will collaborate with the archivists, librarians, curators, and staff of the Booth Family Center to support the department’s reference services.Work Mode DesignationThis position has been designated as On-Campus. Requirements and QualificationsRequired Qualifications:● An ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library or Information Science and/or an advanced degree in a relevant discipline with archival management and special collections training, or equivalent education and experience.● Knowledge of the principles of archival arrangement, description, and appraisal.● One to two years of experience processing archival collections in a special collections setting.● Experience working on digitization projects.● Strong written and oral communication skills.● Excellent organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.● Ability to collaborate as part of a team as well as work independently.Preferred Qualifications:● Experience creating finding aids in an archival content management system, such as ArchivesSpace or Archivist Toolkit.● Experience working on large-scale digitization projects with internal partners and external vendors.● Experience working with maps and other oversized materials.● Knowledge of the history of Saudi Arabia and oil exploration in the Middle East.Sponsored Project Management (if applicable)If this position serves as the Department Financial Manager for a Sponsored Project, please insert the text found on the HR website:http://hr.georgetown.edu/employment_services/costcentermanagers.htmlPay Range: The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:$44,022.00 - $73,406.80Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.Current Georgetown Employees:If you currently work at Georgetown University, please exit this website and login to GMS (gms.georgetown.edu) using your Net ID and password.
