This role will be responsible for driving engineering execution, developing colleagues, and advancing cloud-native architecture and AI adoption across the team’s platforms, products, and workflows.The ideal candidate brings strong people leadership, hands-on technical judgment, and experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and related technologies. This leader will partner across product, architecture, security, data, and engineering teams to deliver scalable, reliable solutions and help shape how AI is applied in practical, responsible, and high-value ways.Key ResponsibilitiesLead, coach, and develop an engineering team supporting Supplemental Benefits platforms and productsDrive modernization of applications, services, and engineering workflows using Google Cloud Platform and related technologiesPartner with cross-functional stakeholders to define technical strategy, delivery priorities, and architectural directionIdentify and implement opportunities to accelerate AI adoption across engineering practices, platform capabilities, and product experiencesImprove system scalability, reliability, observability, and operational excellenceGuide engineering teams in building secure, resilient, and maintainable cloud-native solutionsEstablish strong execution discipline across planning, delivery, issue resolution, and continuous improvementTranslate technical concepts, tradeoffs, and risks into clear communication for leadership and business partnersSupport the development of reusable engineering patterns and solutions that can scale across teamsFoster an inclusive, accountable, and high-performing team environmentLeadership ExpectationsBuild strong teams through coaching, clear expectations, and ongoing feedbackCreate alignment across technical and cross-functional partnersBalance near-term delivery with long-term platform and architectural healthOperate with transparency and accountability in prioritization and executionHelp the team adopt modern technologies and AI capabilities in ways that improve outcomes and strengthen engineering effectivenessRequired Qualifications7+ years of software engineering experience, including experience leading engineering teams3+ years of experience with direct people leadership, including coaching, performance management, and colleague development5+ years of strong experience with Google Cloud Platform, including relevant services such as GKE, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, IAM, VPC, and Cloud Build, or equivalent cloud technologies3+ years of experience modernizing applications or platforms in a complex enterprise environment5+ years of strong experience with distributed systems, microservices, APIs, cloud-native design, and event-driven architectures5+ years of experience with CI/CD, testing practices, observability, incident management, and secure software development1+ years of experience driving practical AI/ML or generative AI adoption in engineering or product environmentsPreferred QualificationsStrong communication and stakeholder management skillsExperience in healthcare, pharmacy, benefits, retail technology, or other regulated industriesKnowledge on CloudSQLExperience supporting customer-facing digital platforms at scaleExperience working in large, matrixed organizations with multiple stakeholder groupsExperience building reusable platforms, services, or internal engineering capabilitiesAdvanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fieldEducation: Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)Pay RangeThe typical pay range for this role is:$118,450.00 - $284,280.00This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.  Our people fuel our future.
