Job DescriptionThis role is categorized as hybrid, meaning the selected candidate will be expected to work on‑site at the Warren Tech Center at least three days per week (or other frequency determined by their manager). Our teams create vehicles and experiences that go beyond transportation—delivering safety, intelligence, and connectivity at scale.You will be responsible for the following tasks:Design responsibilities:Create detailed routed Wheel Speed Sensor, Motor on Caliper Park Brake and Electro-mechanical Brake Caliper Jumper Harness Designs including but not limited to: Wire, Sensors, Accelerometers, Connectors, protective sleeves, attachment clips, mounting brackets and fastenersCreate detailed routed Jounce Hose/Pipe assembly DesignsGenerate dynamic Harness & Jounce Hose representations using NX/FlexpipeCreate and maintain a library in NX for standard hydraulic fittings, clips, fasteners, and electrical connectorsComplete thorough clearance analysis and optimize Harness and Hose Designs to meet all Design Best Practices, clearance and other functional requirements including GMW15105 for HosesComplete Routing Quality Assessments at key Program milestones and thoroughly document Harness Design details and clearance analysisSupport additional Brake System Design work: Throttle and Brake Pedal, Brake Apply (Boosters and Secondary Brake Modules), Front & Rear Brake Corners (Bearings, Rotors, Rotor Shields, Calipers, Jounce Hoses) and performance vehicle Brake Cooling components (Cooling Ducts, Deflectors, etc)Develop fully parameterized Computer Aided Design math models adhering GM Computer Aided Design, data management, design best practice, Vehicle Assembly Structure, Global Data Security and Global Design infoBOOK standardsApply Design for Manufacturability and Design for Assembly principlesFacilitate and participate in formal and informal Design Reviews and Virtual Reviews as requiredDocument and maintain material, mass, and other part specifications within the math data and/or drawing filesSupport Computer Aided Engineering or Virtual Design, Development and Validation team with studies to fully optimize designsIntegrate components into subsystem, subsystem into system and system into vehicleCreate Design studies and propose alternatives. Adjust Designs to changes in program definitionCreate math data (models) or virtual layouts of complex components and subsystemsEnsure high quality, on time math release of components and subsystemsOther responsibilities:Support DREs in Statement of Requirement (SOR) creation by providing detailed math model, dynamic simulation, and packaging backgroundSupport General Motors Car, Truck, Crossover, Performance vehicle, ICE, EV & Hybrid platformsAssist in the development of system, subsystem, and component requirementsUnderstand the General Motors Vehicle Development Process, program timing, and the associated math synchronization requirementsMonitor and evaluate emerging industry trends, technologies, and best practices affecting assigned components or systemsShare lessons learned with Designer team and recommend updates to Best PracticesProactively communicate with Design Manager and DLT and DRE regarding project status, timing, and technical issuesActively seek opportunities for continuous learningRequired Qualifications2–5 years of experience in CAD / engineering design (automotive or mechanical systems)Proficiency in Siemens NX and parametric modelingStrong understanding of GD&T, manufacturability, and subsystem integrationBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experienceStrong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skillsPreferred QualificationsKnowledge of Wheel Speed Sensor, Motor on Caliper Park Brake and Electro-mechanical Brake Caliper Jumper Harness Designs including but not limited to: Wire, Sensors, Accelerometers, Connectors, protective sleeves, attachment clips, mounting brackets and fasteners.Master’s degree in Engineering.GM DOES NOT PROVIDE IMMIGRATION-RELATED SPONSORSHIP FOR THIS ROLE.
