As Systems Engineer – Lead Model Engineer you will join our Avio Aero Engineering within the New Product Introduction (NPI) - 3rd Parties segment.You will work with system engineers and cross-functional teams to support New Technologies and NPI activities, coordinating rig development, coordinating activities between Design and Testing, supporting hardware procurement in alignment with program, customer, and regulatory requirements. You will own test plan development, end-to-end test execution, data analysis and communication, and continuous improvement of test processes to enhance safety, quality, reliability, and efficiency. You will also contribute to TRL/MRL planning required by programs and support modules assembly related activities.Job DescriptionEssential ResponsibilitiesWork with system engineers to lead activities related to New Technologies and New Product Introduction (NPI) processesHelp develop overall test strategies and approach, produce the documentation needed to support tests (e.g., test requests and related supporting material) and to enable hardware procurement activitiesLead and coordinate module assembly with assembly team and test cell installation activities, partnering with Supply Chain, Test Engineering and operations to secure on-time, on-quality readiness for testCoordinate instrumentation definition activities, Test Enabling Hardware (TEH) and Digital Engine Model definition, integrating inputs across design, systems, test, and customer requirementsServe as systems focal and technical leader during test execution, coordinating cross-functional engineering support, driving root-cause investigations, and enabling real-time decision-making to keep tests on trackEnsure creation and maintenance of clear, concise and accurate engineering documentation, including configurations, test reports, deviations, and lessons learned, in accordance with quality and compliance requirementsSynthesize and communicate test status, risks, and emerging issues to program and engineering leadership, proposing data-driven solutions and mitigation plans to protect Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost commitmentsContribute in the definition of TRL and MRL plans required by programs, supporting maturity evidence collection and documentationEnsure lessons learned from ongoing NPI and technology maturation activities are captured and reused to improve executionSupport FLIGHT DECK execution within the team, including preparing and maintaining DORs and WORs, supporting action tracking, and ensuring timely closure of issues impacting Safety, Quality, Delivery, and CostQualifications/RequirementsMaster’s Degree in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering or similar fieldPrevious experience in New Product Introduction (NPI), product development or technology maturation in an engineering environmentExperience working across Engineering and Test/Validation teams, with strong interface and coordination capabilityKnowledge or experience with change management / engineering change approval or configuration-related processesStrong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively in multi-functional and multi-cultural teamsSystemic mindset, problem solver, clear thinking and diligent approachWillingness and ability to travel as needed to cover assigned tests, both locally and internationallyFluent Italian and English knowledgeWork Visa, in accordance with local regulation, is requiredDesired CharacteristicsPrevious experience in a Systems Engineering environment or equivalent (requirements, verification/validation, integration)Familiarity with TRL/MRL concepts and program maturity planningExperience supporting or interfacing with module assembly/manufacturing and shop executionExperience working with 3rd parties/suppliers in an NPI contextSelf-entrepreneurship, strong ownership, and continuous improvement mindsetKnowledge of Lean principles and methodologiesFamiliarity with daily management routines and operational problem-solving (e.g., DOR/WOR cadence, issue escalation, and closure discipline)What we offerSmart working and work life-balanceAvio Aero, when possible, promotes hybrid work and encourages a good, healthy and satisfying work-life balance.
