join our Interventional Cath Lab Team at MercyOne Genesis in Davenport, Iowa!Schedule:Full time, mostly day shift4 10 hr days per week plus callResponsibilities:Provides direct patient care activities in the Cath Lab & other applicable procedural areas implementing an outcome-based plan of careIdentifies learning needs and implements a plan for the patient, conducts patient and family teaching and documents teaching doneAppropriately uses equipment required to perform Cath Lab proceduresUnderstands varying treatment needs and approaches for patients across the life span, as appropriate to the departmentPerforms independently in the role of scrub tech, circulator, and hemodynamic monitor and obtains data collection with physiologic calculations specific to the procedure performed and documentsInitiates BLS/ACLS protocols as appropriate in cardiac emergenciesProvides care utilizing critical thinking skills based on patients' needs and acuity, and is consistent with policies and procedures of the department Coordinates and provides care with a team approachDemonstrates clinical competency Facilitates medication administration, initiates and manages IV therapyAssures medication safety by following the “5 Rights of Medication Administration” Manages patient’s pain in accordance with policyMonitors and manages conscious sedation/sedated patients in accordance with policyResponsible for daily count of controlled substancesCross trained to work in other procedural areas as neededAssists with and implements appropriate interventions during Cardiovascular Procedures under the direction of a licensed professionalCommunicates relevant clinical information to optimize patient outcomes to phys. and other health care professionalsDocuments completely and legiblyConducts an initial assessment and ongoing assessmentsCompletes initial assessment in accordance with policyCompletes ongoing assessments based on patient’s individual needs and/or unit specific time frames Identifies problems, needs and/or changes in patient conditions and implements interventionsPerforms indirect patient care activities to maintain department standardsCleans and maintains equipment as neededAssures all patient care and storage areas are clean and organizedAssists with supply ordering as assignedParticipates in unit-based quality monitoring of patient/procedural outcomesCharges patient account for procedures and supplies in a timely mannerDemonstrates responsibility for cost-containment in daily practiceIdentifies process improvement opportunities and supports change within the department/organizationParticipates in and supports precepting and mentoring activities for new employees in the lab as requested by managerDoes follow up calls to patients as assigned. (customer service, fluoro time) Familiar with regulatory requirements and assists with surveys as assignedBased on principles of growth and development, provides care appropriate to the age-related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit, which may include: 18-65 Yrs: Adults and 65+ Yrs: Geriatrics Collects, analyzes, interprets and applies age-specific dataPerforms tasks/procedures, uses equipment in an age-appropriate mannerCommunicates and works with others in an age-appropriate mannerAdheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and proceduresAttends required safety programsAppropriately and consistently uses the personal protective equipment required of the jobKnows and can demonstrate departmental emergency procedures for fire, disaster and other emergency situationsReports and removes unsafe equipment/furnitureAsks for assistance when needed to assure safety for all involvedMaintains a safe working environment and practices safe working habitsMaintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behaviorGeneral Requirements:Minimum 2 years' experience in Cath Lab or special procedures lab preferred or 3 years critical care experience Possession of a current or compact state licensure as a Registered Nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa and IL RN license within one yearBLS ACLSMandatory Reporter Intermediate language, high math, high reasoning abilityAbility to work with diverse groups of peopleAbility to work under pressure and with a large degree of independenceCritical thinking skillsAbility to perform within a team and good time management skills   Strong knowledge base in cardiac anatomy, physiology and Cardiac care  Must be able to analyze and interpret basic EKG tracingsKnowledge of cardiac medications, hemodynamic monitoring and fundamentals of sterile techniqueEducation:Associate degree required, BSN
