Job Title:Assistant Vice Provost for Academic Program PathwaysDepartment:Academic Affairs Administration | AdministrationThe Assistant Vice Provost for Academic Program Pathways, reporting to Vice Provost for Academic Programs, will work with the Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) and Vice Provost for Academic Programs and the College of Education and Human Ecology (EHE) and Interim Dean. The position will oversee the academic programs “pathways pillar” of OAA’s initiative in workforce development. This position will partner with companies, local school districts, other universities and technical schools to make connections and build the pathways. This position will establish the EHE Workforce Advisory Board to enhance enrollment and experience for PreK-12 workforce programs. This position may teach up to 6 credit hours in EHE.Duties include- workforce priorities of OSU/OAA:20% of the position: work with Columbus State Community College to identify, develop and implement new workforce development pathways – IT, Construction Systems Management, Advanced Manufacturing, and more20 % of the position: work with Coumbus City Schools on recently identified issues about enrollment to OSU, and related pathways, giving particular attention to identifying OSU’s role in the new high school “academies”20 % of the position: work to help establish academic program connections with other central Ohio school districts in alignment with the Central Ohio Educational Services Center (ESC), establish connections with Ohio’s Career Technical Centers, and help OSU’s regional campuses with next steps in K-12 programming10 % of the position: work with our Office of College Credit Plus on re-envisioning our approach to that important state transfer processDuties also include- workforce priorities of OSU/EHE:20% of the position: Teach 3-6 credits per year within the scope of the employee’s expertise, ideally with a focus on the role of PreK-12 education leadership in advancing PreK-12 education workforce interests in partnership with higher education.5% of the position: Partner with EHE faculty, staff, and administrators to establish and cultivate an EHE PreK-12 Workforce Advisory Board. The mission of the Board is to enhance enrollment and the learner experience in (a) EHE degree programs leading to the PreK-12 workforce and (b) EHE professional development programs for in-service PreK-12 professionals. The vision of the Board is to enhance the capacity of the PreK-12 workforce to deliver an excellent education and support services to PreK-12 students and their communities and to adapt the workforce based on scientific innovations and the changing needs of students and their communities. [note: the mission and vision are under development and drafts are shared in this context to help frame the role]5% of the position: Serve at the intersections of the Department of Educational Studies, the Department of Teaching and Learning, the EHE EDGE office, and OAA to enhance partnerships with EHE entities/personnel and PreK-12 entities/personnel to mutual benefit.Additional Information:Education:Master’s degree required, PhD preferred in Higher Education Administration or relevant field.Experience:Required skills:Demonstrated experience with K-12 education, community building, leading change.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently.Desired skills:Handle all interactions with civility, respect, and professionalism to promote and create a welcoming atmosphere for all.Maintain confidentiality in all matters of business responsibility.Experience in enrollment in PreK-12 programs.Location:University Square South (1032)Position Type:Term (Fixed Term)Scheduled Hours:40Shift:First ShiftFinal candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check.
