The growth in clinical volume throughout The Ohio State's Wexner Medical Center has created opportunities to add additional general and sub-specialty trained anesthesiologists with an interest in education and/or research. Positions can be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor.Position OverviewThe primary duties of the positions will be providing perioperative care at the University Hospital, The James Comprehensive Cancer Hospital on the main campus and our expanding outpatient surgical centers. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.Department/Division OverviewThe Department of Anesthesiology is composed of 128 physicians, 103 CRNA/CAA’s, 10 clinician scientists, 80 residents, 9 fellows, a large compliment of anesthesia technicians and 13 administrative support staff. Comprised of six academic divisions, Critical Care, Pain, Cardiothoracic, OB, Ambulatory and General Anesthesia, the Department provides comprehensive anesthesia services throughout the health system, including off-site and regional locations. The department is deeply invested in teaching and training, offering four ACGME-accredited fellowships in cardiothoracic anesthesiology, critical care anesthesiology, obstetric anesthesiology, pain medicine and regional anesthesiology as well as additional fellowships in neuroanesthesiology and Executive Leadership and Business in Anesthesiology. An additional ACGME accredited fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology is offered in partnership with Nationwide Children’s Hospital.RequirementsMD or DOSuccessful completion of an accredited Anesthesiology Residency ProgramBoard Certified or Board Eligible in AnesthesiologyEligible for an Ohio Medical License H-1b sponsorship available for qualified candidates. These faculty will have earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal career focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research. Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching. Tenure-track faculty with MD, DO or MD/PhD degrees may also be involved in clinical care.Research Faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years.
