We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our healthcare team. The Certified Pharmacy Technician will play an essential role in supporting pharmacists and ensuring the accurate preparation, packaging, and distribution of medications. The Certified Pharmacy Technician will work closely with pharmacists, healthcare providers, and patients to maintain efficient pharmacy operations and support high-quality patient care.
The Certified Pharmacy Technician is responsible for processing prescriptions, preparing medications, maintaining inventory, managing pharmacy records, and assisting with daily pharmacy operations. The Certified Pharmacy Technician will ensure that medications are dispensed accurately and in compliance with healthcare regulations and pharmacy standards. This Certified Pharmacy Technician role requires excellent attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and a commitment to patient safety.
As a Certified Pharmacy Technician , you will assist pharmacists with medication preparation, insurance processing, prescription verification support, and inventory management. The Certified Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for maintaining accurate records and supporting workflow efficiency within the pharmacy environment. A successful Certified Pharmacy Technician demonstrates professionalism, integrity, reliability, and strong communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications accurately.Process prescription orders and maintain accurate pharmacy records.Package and label medications according to established guidelines.Verify prescription information and ensure accuracy before dispensing.Manage inventory levels and order pharmacy supplies as needed.Monitor medication expiration dates and remove outdated products.Assist with insurance claim processing and prescription billing activities.Maintain electronic pharmacy records and documentation.Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare professionals.Answer pharmacy-related inquiries and direct complex questions to pharmacists.Assist with medication reconciliation activities when required.Support sterile and non-sterile medication preparation processes as permitted.Restock medication shelves and storage areas.Follow pharmacy safety standards and infection prevention protocols.Maintain cleanliness and organization of pharmacy workspaces.Assist with controlled substance inventory management procedures.Support quality assurance and regulatory compliance activities.Participate in pharmacy audits and inventory counts.Collaborate with healthcare team members to support patient care.Attend training sessions and professional development programs. Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration. Otherwise, earns PTCB certification as condition of promotion to senior technician.Attends training and completes PPLs requested by Manager and acquires continuing education credits. Maintains knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments. Qualifications
PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico)One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy, Health System Pharmacy locations, or in locations where this role is covered under a collective bargaining agreement)Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.Prefer good math skills (counting, measuring and weighing medications).Prefer basic level PC skills (for example: start up and shut down computer, use mouse to point and click, start and close programs, switch between programs, save
