Applicants are required to submit a request for each position of which they have applied.For general application assistance or if you have questions about a job posting, please contact Human Resources at 479.575.5351.Department:African & African American StudiesDepartment's Website:https://aast.uark.edu/Summary of Job Duties:In conjunction with Program Directors, the African & African American Studies (AAST) Program Assistant is responsible for the management, coordination, and administration of communication, courses, travel, purchasing, hiring, payroll, leave reporting, special events, including evenings and weekends, budgets, conferences, etc. for specific AAST. This position coordinates program funding and account reconciliation; coordinates graduate assistant and faculty teaching contracts for fall, spring, summer, and intersession courses; and course schedules for face-to-face and Global Campus AAST stand-alone and cross-listed courses and textbook orders. This position also processes applications for the AAST graduate certificate program, scholarships, and study abroad and coordinates program marketing. The Program Assistant will also be responsible for website and electronic monitoring of content creation, updates, and maintenance and for maintaining events on the AAST social media sites. This position will also supervise general office management, secretarial, and reception responsibilities.Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is exercising initiative in building the program's operations and meeting outlined goals.
