This position is based out of the Kings Mountain, NC site but will also support the Silver Peak, NV site, with field presence as needed during construction and startup activities.The E&I Project Specialist is a project execution role supporting Albemarle’s US Energy Storage capital portfolio. This position provides electrical and instrumentation (E&I) design development and field execution leadership for site capital projects, ensuring systems are safely installed, commissioned, and turned over to operations.This role functions as a hybrid between design support and field supervision—developing construction-ready deliverables while overseeing contractors performing installation, checkout, and startup of E&I systems. The position emphasizes constructability, installation quality, and field coordination and requires strong hands-on industrial E&I experience.The successful candidate brings practical expertise in industrial electrical and instrumentation systems, with demonstrated ability to translate design intent into executable field work, manage contractor performance, and drive safe, high-quality project delivery.What You Will DoProject Execution & Field LeadershipSupport delivery of E&I scope across capital projects from design through construction, commissioning, and handoverProvide field leadership during construction, including contractor oversight, work coordination, and installation verificationEnsure all work is executed in accordance with project scope, site standards, and safety requirementsServe as the primary E&I field point-of-contact for project teams, contractors, and operationsIdentify and resolve field issues, including constructability challenges and design gapsE&I Design Development & Construction PackagesDevelop construction work packages to support contractor execution, including:Location plans and routing drawingsInstallation details and termination drawingsInstrument indexes, loop diagrams, and I/O listsScope of work documentation for contractorsSupport development of P&IDs, control strategies, and system designs in coordination with engineeringEnsure designs are practical, constructible, and aligned with standards and specificationsEquipment Specification & Procurement SupportSpecify and support procurement of instrumentation and electrical equipment, including:Process instrumentation (flow, pressure, level, analyzers, control valves)Electrical equipment (lighting, transformers, MCCs, VFDs, motor control systems)Coordinate with procurement and vendors to ensure complete and accurate technical scopeReview vendor submittals for alignment with project and site requirementsInstallation, Commissioning & StartupLead or support installation, checkout, and commissioning of new E&I systemsCoordinate loop checks, system testing, and functional verificationSupport troubleshooting and optimization of installed systems during startupEnsure proper documentation, punch list closure, and turnover to operationsPlanning, Estimating & CoordinationSupport project planning activities including estimating, scheduling, and work sequencingParticipate in constructability reviews and contribute to execution planningCoordinate across disciplines (mechanical, civil, process, operations) to ensure alignment of E&I scopeSafety & ComplianceChampion safety-first execution by leading safety tailgates and reinforcing safe work practicesEnsure compliance with applicable codes and standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC, etc.)Support hazard identification efforts and ensure safe installation and startup of systemsWhat You BringRequired:EducationTechnical training, associate degree, or equivalent practical experience in Electrical, Instrumentation, or related fieldExperience10–20+ years of experience in industrial plant environments with hands-on E&I responsibilitiesStrong background in instrumentation installation, electrical systems, and process control environmentsExperience supporting capital projects, maintenance projects, or construction activitiesDemonstrated experience overseeing contractors and coordinating field executionTechnical SkillsAbility to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical drawings, and control system documentationStrong knowledge of:Process instrumentation and control systemsLow- and medium-voltage electrical systemsMotor control systems, MCCs, and VFDsWorking knowledge of applicable codes and standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC)Proficiency with standard business and documentation tools (Excel, Word, SAP or equivalent)Leadership & InterpersonalStrong field leadership presence with ability to direct and coordinate contractor activitiesEffective communicator across engineering, construction, and operations teamsTeam-oriented with a strong customer focus and commitment to project outcomesPractical problem solver with ability to make timely, field-driven decisions #LI-JH3Benefits of Joining AlbemarleCompetitive compensationComprehensive benefits packageA diverse array of resources to support you professionally and personally.We are partners to one another in pioneering new ways to be better for ourselves, our teams, and our communities.
