Working here, you’ll feel part of a family that is dedicated to making a difference and helping others. What You’ll DoAs a Controls Engineer, you will support plant operations by designing, implementing, and maintaining electrical and automation systems to ensure high standards of safety, quality, and productivity. You’ll play a key role in driving process improvements, supporting production, and leading technical projects while ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards.Design, implement, and maintain electrical systems, control systems, and automation solutions for plant operationsProvide technical support for manufacturing, including new product introductions, equipment startups, and process optimizationTroubleshoot complex system issues and develop innovative solutions to improve performance and reliabilityLead and manage capital projects, including scope definition, scheduling, and coordination with internal teams and external vendorsProgram and support PLCs (Allen Bradley, Modicon), SCADA systems (GE IFIX), HMI platforms (FactoryTalk, Ignition), and data historians (OSIsoft)Develop and maintain engineering documentation such as specifications, drawings, validation records, and change control documentationDrive cost reduction and productivity improvement initiatives through process enhancements and new technologiesMonitor plant performance, identify improvement opportunities, and respond to production issues in real timeProvide training and technical guidance to operators, technicians, and maintenance personnelEnsure compliance with regulatory requirements, GMP standards, engineering standards, and EHS policiesCollaborate cross-functionally with production, quality, R&D, and engineering teamsLead or support project teams and coordinate the efforts of technicians, contractors, and external resourcesYou’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures. Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, or related field)2+ years of engineering, automation, or project management experience (or advanced education equivalent)Working knowledge of electrical systems, control systems, and automation technologiesExperience troubleshooting and solving moderately complex technical problemsExperience with PLC programming (Allen Bradley, Modicon/Schneider Electric)Strong understanding of engineering principles, practices, and proceduresKnowledge of National Electric Code (NEC) and NFPA 70EStrong communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to collaborate across teamsAbility to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work within defined proceduresDemonstrated leadership ability and experience guiding technicians or support personnelAbility to work effectively in a regulated environment with attention to compliance and qualityPreferred QualificationsExperience in food, pharmaceutical, or other FDA-regulated industriesSCADA development experience (GE IFIX)HMI programming experience (FactoryTalk, Ignition, GE IFIX)Data historian experience (OSIsoft)Familiarity with validation processes, change control, and GMP environmentsExperience with capital project management and engineering documentation (RCEs, VCRs, scope documents)Experience implementing new manufacturing technologies or process improvementsStrong interpersonal and negotiation skills in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentIn compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify
