You will be able to access and complete the application through “My Draft Applications” located on your Candidate Home page.Job Posting Title:HVAC/Control Technician   Position Type:Classified   Department:LSUPBRC Admin - Fac - HVAC (Paul J Lemoine (00006743))   Work Location:LSU - Pennington Biomedical   Pay Grade:Classified Technician and Skilled Trades   Job Description:Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, HVAC/Control Technician in Facilities. This is a classified position, and rules of the position are governed by State Civil Service. An ideal candidate should possess the following competencies: Making Accurate Judgements: The ability to assess options, weigh risks, and make sound decisions using available information and logical reasoning.Displaying Expertise: The ability to demonstrate specialized knowledge, skills, and experience to apply subject-matter expertise in diverse and evolving contexts.Solving Problems: The ability to identify root causes, analyze relevant data, and apply practical or innovative solutions to challenges.Testing and Troubleshooting: The ability to systematically analyze, diagnose, and resolve problems that arise within a system, device, or software.Working Safely: The ability to maintain a safe work environment by following established safety rules, procedures, and practices. Minimum QualificationsTwo years of experience or training in the installation or maintenance of pneumatic, electrical, or electronic control systems for heating (including boiler), ventilating, or air conditioning systems. Job SpecificationsThe official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here. Job DutiesPerforms troubleshooting, maintenance, and basic repairs on HVAC, boiler, chiller, and control systems including control valves, thermostats, pressure switches, flow switches, fire detectors, relays, smoke detectors, and pneumatic control instrumentation.Conducts routine inspections and preventive maintenance of boiler and chiller rooms, including blowing down boilers three times per week, identifying leaks or operational issues, maintaining cleanliness of mechanical areas and laydown yard, and performing minor equipment repairs as needed.Assists with the maintenance, repair, and installation of building automation and energy management systems, including supporting contractors with Metasys System operations and control valve installations.Uses schematics, vendor manuals, and diagnostic tools such as volt-OHM meters, pressure and temperature gauges, and manometers to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation issues.Responds to daily work order requests and participates in an on-call rotation every 5–6 weeks to provide emergency maintenance and operational support for HVAC and control systems.Performs additional maintenance, repair, and operational duties as assigned to support facility and utility operations.
