Together, we care for the spaces where learning thrives—because Together, We Rise.In this dynamic role, you will perform a wide range of custodial and light maintenance duties, including cleaning offices, classrooms, restrooms, and common areas; maintaining floor surfaces through mopping, buffing, vacuuming, and refinishing; washing windows and surfaces; restocking supplies; and supporting furniture moves and event setups. You’ll also assist with waste and recycling removal, seasonal snow and ice management, and routine maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and identifying facility needs. Working under the guidance of the Custodial Services Supervisor, you will travel between campus buildings using a State vehicle—embracing challenges, adapting quickly, and helping maintain an environment where everyone can learn, work, and succeed.Key Job Responsibilities:Maintains clean and clear walkways to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and iceUtilizes basic equipment and supplies to clean assigned facility areas and remove waste and recyclablesMonitors and secures facility interior and exterior entrances and reports issues to appropriate entitiesMaintains organization of supply areas and equipment, documents inventory, and requests additional supplies as neededDocuments and reports repairs, violations, and pest control needsDepartment:Facilities Management - OperationsCompensation:Hourly pay of $17.00.This position will earn an additional $0.80 per hour for all weekend hours worked, as well as for all hours worked between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.This position is not exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).Required Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent at time of applicationPossession of or eligibility to obtain a valid drivers license upon appointmentBasic Computer skills including the ability to use e-mail and internetPreferred Qualifications:Bilingual, preferably in Spanish, Hmong, Somali, or OneidaKnowledge of the proper methods, materials, and equipment for a wide range of general custodian workAbility to operate cleaning equipment such as a vacuum cleaner or a floor scrubberKnowledge of basic safety precautions including the safe and proper use of toxic chemicals, and knowledge of heaving lifting methods to ensure safetyMust have the ability to maintain high standards of cleanlinessAbility to tolerate temperature extremes when performing snow removal activitiesPhysical Qualifications:Physical abilities to lift 50 lbs. from the floor to waist occasionallyPhysical abilities to lift 30 lbs. from the floor to overhead occasionallyPhysical abilities to stand and walk continuously throughout an eight hour shiftAbility to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, move furniture, perform repetitive motions, overhead work, frequent stair and ladder climbingConditions of Appointment:Position is a full-time University Staff appointment.  The work hours for this position will be 3:30 p.m. - 11:30 p.m., Monday through Friday on the Green Bay campus.A criminal conviction investigation and pre-work screen examination will be conducted on the finalist(s).  In addition, if the final selected candidate has prior work history within the last 7 years with Universities of Wisconsin, a personnel file review check for employee misconduct will be completed. A [six/twelve]-month probationary period is required for this position.
