An excellent opportunity to join a nationally recognized, physician-led healthcare system with a mission to improve health every day.Position Highlights: Full-time, outpatient-only Bariatric Medicine positionM-F, 8am – 5pm, some afterhours call may be required - no weekendsWork alongside 2 experienced physicians and 5 experienced APPsEstablished patient base with a waiting list—rapid panel buildDiverse and high‑complexity case mix, including pre‑ and post‑bariatric surgery patients, medical weight management, and chronic disease optimizationLeadership & Strategic Responsibilities:The ideal candidate will embrace a leadership-forward role, including:Supervision and clinical mentorship of experienced APPs, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based obesity careVision-setting for the role of obesity medicine across the region/system, helping shape program growth, care pathways, and integration with primary care, endocrinology, bariatric surgery, and other specialtiesParticipation in program development, quality improvement, and strategic initiativesContribution to regional education, including provider training and community engagement related to obesity careThis leadership component elevates the position beyond a traditional clinical role and aligns with candidate expectations seen in high-demand obesity medicine markets.Patient Panel Description:This role manages a robust, high‑complexity panel of adults with obesity and related metabolic conditions, including:Patients pursuing non‑surgical medical weight managementOptimizing individuals in the pre‑operative evaluation phase for bariatric surgeryPost‑operative longitudinal follow‑up patients (nutrition, weight‑regain prevention, comorbidity management)Patients with multiple obesity‑related comorbidities, including diabetes, hypertension, NASH, OSA, and cardiovascular risk disordersIndividuals requiring intensive lifestyle intervention, anti‑obesity pharmacotherapy, and chronic disease optimizationBenefits:Base salary plus RVU incentivesQuality Performance Incentives up to 25KSign on Bonus 15KCommencement Bonus 10KGenerous CME allowance of $5,500 per year to advance your expertiseComprehensive benefits package including Health, Dental, Vision, Disability and moreRetirement Package with Matching ContributionMalpractice and Tail coverageFully Integrated EHR (Epic) with systemwide access to Dragon dictation and Dragon Copilot artificial intelligence for note creationEnjoy 36 days off annually to promote work-life balance, plus 1 floating holidayEducation:Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine (DABOM), requiredExperience:Experience preferredAbout Sentara Health: Sentara Health is an award-winning, nonprofit healthcare system with over 2,000 providers working together to deliver outstanding, compassionate care to our communities.
