You must apply by 11:59 PM prior to the posted closing date.Individuals in this class perform manual work in the upkeep of the Marine Shipyard grounds, buildings, and equipment. This position will perform a wide variety of general building maintenance and facility support functions. Work assignments will be utilizing basic hand tools. Work is performed with general supervision in repetitive and routine assignments and may be closely supervised when assisting higher-level trades workers in performing more complex work. All other duties as required by supervisor. This position is located at the NCDOT Ferry Shipyard in Manns Harbor.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management PreferencesSalary Grade and Salary Range: NC01 $31,200 - $48,810Management prefers applicants with the following:Basic knowledge of the application of trade skills to the duties assigned.Skill in the use and care of equipment and tools used in performing work assignments.Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructionsExperience using physical strength sufficient to move relatively heavy objectsExperience working at heavy manual tasks for considerable periods of time.Minimum Education and ExperienceSome state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both.
