This role plays a critical part in supporting student success, strengthening employer and alumni engagement, and advancing the LBJ School’s presence in Washington, DC.ResponsibilitiesStudent Affairs & Career SupportServe as a point of contact for prospective applicants and enrolled students participating in LBJ Washington Center programs.In partnership with the Director identify and create programming for professional development, internship, and employment opportunities to students.Support employer outreach, partnership development and alumni engagement to expand student career opportunities.Assist in the development and implementation of strategies to grow and enhance the DC programs, including recruitment, selection, induction and advising of students.Communications & EventsAssist in the development and execution of communication plans including, website management, newsletter creation, social media and reporting updates supported by research, writing, videography and photography to promote Center programs, activities, and student accomplishments for publication.Support planning and execution of LBJ Washington DC Center student events, including orientation activities, graduation and end-of-program celebrations and alumni reception events.Serve as the primary point of contact for the Washington, DC Center’s community engagement and events, leading outreach, planning, communications, and logistics for events.Represent the university in developing partnerships with community leaders and organizations and establish goals to execute strategies to strengthen community collaborations.Collaborate with the LBJ Alumni Office and DC Alumni Chapter to plan networking and engagement events.Center OperationsManage internal business processing for the Washington DC Center including processing travel requests, reservations, reimbursements, honorariums for guest speakers and other relevant processes. Draft and submit service agreements for contract workers, process purchase orders for external vendors, fulfill invoices and issue payments as needed.Manage scheduling and use of Center space for the LBJ School, University of Texas, and external partner activities.Provide general operational and logistical support to ensure effective workflows, compliance, consistency in service.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience coordinating or administering a program or events. Previous success in a customer service environment and demonstrated success communicating effectively with different constituencies through a variety of media. Adaptability and skills at problem solving with speed and creativity while employing good judgment and composure. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated attention to detail. Collaborative approach with excellent organizational skills and customer service. Moderate understanding of social media platforms. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.Preferred QualificationsMore than the required experience. Experience working in higher education. Experience working in political settings and/or with elected officials. Experience with data management. Experience with University of Texas policies, procedures, and administrative systems.Salary Range$60,000 + depending on qualificationsWorking ConditionsStandard office environment.Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.Occasional local, domestic
