Waste Connections is seeking a Roll Off Dispatcher to join our team in Brooklyn, NY. This role is essential to keeping our operations running smoothly by coordinating drivers, resolving service issues, and supporting our customer service and operations teams. (depending on relevant experience)Schedule ⏰: Monday-Friday 8am – 5pmPosition SummaryThe Dispatcher is responsible for managing incoming requests, dispatching drivers based on priority, and ensuring timely and accurate service delivery. This position requires strong communication skills, excellent computer proficiency, and the ability to remain calm and organized in a high‑volume environment.Key ResponsibilitiesManage daily schedules, including deliveries, pickups, and container exchangesAssign drivers and adjust schedules throughout the day based on workload and service needsOptimize routing and equipment utilization to support efficient operationsMonitor job progress and ensure timely completion of all scheduled workCommunicate with drivers, sales, and customer service to coordinate updates and resolve issuesPrioritize urgent or high‑value accounts and manage delays or service disruptionsReallocate work and coordinate reschedules to maintain service levelsEnsure accurate job documentation, order entry, and system updatesReview and schedule all incoming service requests received via emailEscalate service or capacity issues and provide timely updates to internal teams and customersJob RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredMinimum 2 years of dispatcher experience in transportation or logistics preferredExperience with live dispatch operations and coordinating driversExperience creating and managing driver schedulesFamiliarity with telematics/driver coaching tools such as 3rd Eye, Lytx, and DriveCamStrong typing and data entry skillsProficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)Excellent verbal and written communication skillsBilingual (English/Spanish) requiredWaste industry experience strongly preferredWhat We OfferCompetitive payMedical, dental, and vision benefitsLong-term disability and life insurance401(k) with company matchYear-round stability in a recession‑resistant industryUnlimited opportunities to “Connect with Your Future”WHY YOU NEED TO JOIN USCULTURE: It’s a great place to work!
