With a wide variety of people, global locations, technologies and products, 3M is a place where you can collaborate with other curious, creative 3Mers.This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career.The Impact You’ll Make in this RoleAs a Product Engineer supporting the Consumer Business Group, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world.  Here, you will make an impact by: Supporting the development and maintenance of existing & new products within the Home Environment & Consumer Safety portfolios.Implementing programs to improve quality, reduce costs, and support new NPI programs for Home Environment & Consumer Safety products.Leading, alongside cross functional team, key Change Management Projects (CMP) for existing products and product line extensions.Supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to drive implementation and launch.Verify and document product specifications for new and existing products via claim substantiation process in PLM.Conducting product claims testing and document test results via claim substantiation processInteracting closely with key internal and external manufacturers and suppliers to deliver high-quality retail productsInterfacing with cross-functional team members (marketing, manufacturing, supply chain, sales, technical service, quality, regulatory, etc.) to ensure successful program delivery.Determining root cause of product quality issues and implementing corrective actions.Your Skills and Expertise  To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited institutionThree (3) years of manufacturing and/or laboratory experience in a private, public, government or military environmentAdditional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) & Change Management Projects (CMP)Demonstrated success in effectively leading and contributing to cross functional teams.Strong communication, organizational, project management and problem-solving skillsDemonstrated ability to define and execute product verification/claim substantiation test plans, develop & validate test methods and properly document test resultsProficiency in design of experiments and other statistical methods & toolsExperience in a regulated industry.Familiar with PLM system for: RM substitutions (and the 3M change management process), NPI process, SKU creation, BOM creation, PFMEA, DFMEA, HOQ, test method development.Work Location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee work five days a week at the 3M center in Maplewood, MNTravel: May include up to 15% - 25% domesticRelocation Assistance: Not Authorized Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).Supporting Your Well-being 3M offers many programs to help you live your best life – both physically and financially.
