JOB TITLE AV Production Specialist I JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Audio Visual (AV) Production Specialist I serves as Florida Polytechnic University's primary technical lead for live event production and event-related audiovisual technology. This position is part of the Technology Support team within the Information Technology Services (ITS) Division. The Specialist designs, deploys, operates, and maintains live audio, video, and AV reinforcement systems for University events on and off campus, including academic ceremonies, executive and Board functions, esports tournaments, livestreamed productions, and special events. When not supporting events, the Specialist maintains the live production inventory, improves event-support systems and workflows, contributes to classroom and conference room AV support, and provides general technology support as needed. The Specialist also guides and directs student workers assisting with event setup, operation, and strike. JOB DESCRIPTION Job Responsibilities:Live Event Audio Engineering & Production: Serve as lead audio engineer for live University events. Operate digital audio consoles to mix, EQ, gate, and compress live sources. Design event-appropriate audio packages including front-of-house, monitors, and wireless microphone systems. Manage signal flow and gain structure from input through amplification.Event Setup, Operation & Teardown: Plan and execute load-in, deployment, operation, and strike of live event AV gear at on-campus venues, the Esports Arena, and off-site special events. Coordinate event logistics, transport, and rigging following safe-handling practices.Event Inventory & Equipment Maintenance: Maintain the University's live event production inventory, including consoles, speakers, amplifiers, microphones, DI boxes, cabling, video switchers, and rigging hardware. Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and firmware updates. Track inventory, recommend replacements, and develop equipment specifications for future purchases.AV Installation & Classroom Support: Install, integrate, and commission audio reinforcement systems and audiovisual technology across University venues, including loudspeaker mounting, cable pulling and termination, equipment rack assembly, and system integration. Support, maintain, and upgrade classroom and conference room AV systems, including Crestron control systems, AV-over-IP (Crestron NVX) infrastructure, projection, displays, microphones, and DSP platforms.Livestreaming & Broadcast Production: Design, configure, and operate livestreaming and broadcast workflows for University events, including camera systems, video switching, audio embedding, encoding, and delivery to streaming platforms.Student Worker Direction & Mentorship: Guide and direct student workers during event setups, operations, and teardowns. Provide hands-on training, ensure safe equipment handling, and help develop event production skills among student staff.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Audio Production, Audio Engineering, Music Technology, Audiovisual Technology, or a closely related field.Two (2) or more years of hands-on professional live audio engineering experience in corporate events, conferences, broadcasts, theatrical, touring, or comparable live production settings.Demonstrated proficiency operating digital audio consoles as front-of-house (FOH) or monitor engineer in a live production environment.Hands-on experience applying equalization, dynamics processing (gates, compressors, limiters), and time-based effects on live audio sources.Working experience deploying and operating wired and wireless microphone systems.Hands-on experience installing audio reinforcement and AV systems, including loudspeaker mounting, cable pulling and termination, equipment rack assembly, and system integration.Valid driver's license.In lieu of a degree, any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.Preferred Qualifications:Four (4) or more years of professional live audio engineering experience, particularly in corporate event, conference, broadcast, or large-scale event production.Experience designing, specifying, and deploying live audio reinforcement systems from the ground up, including loudspeaker selection, FOH and monitor system layout, and system tuning.Experience tuning and optimizing PA systems using measurement and analysis tools (e.g., Smaart, SysTune, REW).Experience coordinating wireless microphone frequencies for multi-channel RF deployments.Hands-on experience with netwo
