Instructor of Chemistry

Thank you for your interest in employment with Southeastern Louisiana University.Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Chemistry and Physics invites applications for the position of Instructor of Chemistry. All Chemistry Instructors are expected to teach undergraduate-level chemistry courses and labs. You would be responsible for preparing lessons and assessments based on a list of course learning objectives and using the textbook already adopted. In this position, you would primarily teach organic chemistry courses and labs for science majors and some 1000-level chemistry courses. Additionally, you would be expected to participate in service activities for the Department, University, and Community.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Master's degree from an accredited university in Chemistry or in another discipline with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Chemistry by the hire datePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related discipline.Experience teaching organic chemistry lecture and laboratory courses to science majors.Recent organic synthesis experience and knowledge of good lab technique is highly desirable.A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and service.DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS Strong content knowledge in organic chemistry and ability to create lessons, assessments and answer keysCapacity to mentor good laboratory skills using best practices with a safety mindsetWillingness to serve in a community that values all studentsAbility to collaborate with faculty of varied backgroundsREQUIRED DOCUMENTS Cover LetterCurriculum VitaeCopies of Transcript (Only an unofficial transcript for the highest degree is required at application.
