Job description

The Pre-K Instructor serves as the lead teacher for a classroom of children, ensuring a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment while supporting children's growth and school readiness. The position also supports the ECEC's role as a university-based teaching site by mentoring students and maintaining compliance with state licensing and NAEYC accreditation standards.The Pre-K Instructor serves as the lead teacher for a classroom of three-year-oldchildren at the Early Childhood Education Center and is responsible forproviding high-quality early childhood education in alignment withdevelopmentally appropriate practice, state licensure requirements, andNAEYC accreditation standards.Primary duties and responsibilities include:1. Instruction and Classroom LeadershipPlan and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculumthat supports cognitive, social-emotional, language, and physicaldevelopment of children. Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, andengaging classroom environment that promotes exploration, curiosity, andpositive behavior. Conduct ongoing observation and assessment of children'sdevelopment and use data to inform instruction and communicate progress.2. Child Development and Family Engagement- Foster supportive relationshipswith children, communicate regularly with families, partner with families tosupport each child's individual needs and developmental goals.3. Supervision and Mentorship- mentor student workers, practicum students,and interns from the HDFS program and related disciples. Model bestpractices in early childhood education.4. Collaboration and Program Support- Collaborate with ECEC staff and HDFSFaculty and interdisciplinary partners to support teaching, research, andoutreach activities. Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, andcontinuous improvement efforts.5. Compliance and Quality Assurance- ensure classroom practices meetLouisiana state licensing regulations and maintain compliance with all healthsafety, and supervision standards. Support ongoing accreditation efforts,including adherence to National Association for Education of YoungChildren standards.6. Program Operations- Manage daily classroom routines, schedules, andtransitions effectively.
